Assault | Woodsball Games
There are several game variations to the game of Woodsball, including Slayer, CTF, and Assault. Most Woodsball games feature two teams, and two evenly numbered teams that have mirror image objectives. By this, we mean that if one team has the objective of capturing the opposition's flag, the opposing team will have the same objective. This game is often called attack and defend in recreational paintball. In this game, players are paired off into two evenly numbered teams, with one team the attackers and one team the defenders. The defenders take their position around a fort or area of the field for defending. The attackers start from outside of the zone the other team is responsible for defending. The defenders must stop the attackers from reaching their defense and accomplishing their objective inside of the fixed location. These games are usually timed, and the attackers have only a certain period of time to get inside the defensive zone before time runs out and the defenders declare victory. Each team can also win the game by eliminating all of the members of the opposing team.

Assault Woodsball games are similar to attack and defend recreational paintball games. In these games, the attackers must try to break through the defenders line of defense and accomplish some type of objective once through. The defenders have the responsibility of holding some type of fixed location on the field. The objective for completing may be simply to touch a flag in the center of the defenders base, or to mark an object inside that case. The base, or fixed location, may be anything from a fully enclosed, two story for it to a rectangular area surrounded by stakes. Whatever the area the defenders have for protecting, they can keep the enemy back by eliminating players and holding out long enough for the game clock to expire.
Alamo is one paintball variation that is played with attackers and defenders in the Assault style. While assault games feature the same numbers of the attackers and defenders, Alamo games are played with the defenders outnumbered 3 to 1 4 to 1. Alamo games can be played with or without time limits. The objective of these games are usually identical to Assault. Paintball games like these are often popular on fields such as Advanced Alabama Adventures in Birmingham Alabama and Urban Adventurers in Mesa Arizona.
There are over 100 different game variations that groups of paintballers can play without the need for elaborate props for apparati. Some simple games include D-Day, Fugitive, Civil War, Hostage, Mercenary, and Jail. In the game jail, players have to go to a jail in the center of the field rather than leave the field permanently. To set this game up, you will need to create two teams of equal strength, 4 posts, and about 50 feet of string. To set up the field, nail 4 posts in the center of the field to make a square 10 feet across. Tie as string connecting the four corners to create a makeshift jail cell. In this game, players from both teams will have to go to the same jail cell once eliminated. Players can be broken out of the jail cell by getting tagged in by a player on the same team.
