Game Tactics
A player's or team's game tactics are any set of planned maneuvers to get into position to eliminate other players or accomplish a game objective. While it would be impossible to list all possible game tactics in this article, there are some key elements to most of them. A team's game tactics put their players in a position to win the game. Sometimes a game strategy might focus on eliminating the next player. Sometimes game tactics might include moves like bunkering or lane shooting. All of these game tactics include a team getting their players in the right position to win the game. Executing paintball game tactics goes far beyond making moves in the big games. Winning team programs practice skill building drills and strength training months before the big tournaments, and the best professional players all take yeas to get where they are today. Some of the best teams that have mastered the art of executing game tactics include the Oakland Empire and the Portland Naughty Dogs.

Captain's Meeting. Not all of the important game tactics involve the moves on the field. To succeed in tournaments events like the CFOA and Paintball Sports Promotions events, players must study the field dimensions and the bunker arrangements on them. Like a snowflake, all fields are unique, with their unlimited compilation of bunker arrangements. There are so many different types of bunkers at major tournament events, including the cylinder, half moon, and X. Players must study these combos of bunker arrangements, and then go over their notes at a captains meeting the day before the game. Bill Belichick of the New England Patriots was quoted as saying "practice preparation becomes game reality." In this statement he is saying that the work that you put into practice, or lack thereof, will translate to a team's performance on the field. All of the players and coaches involved in the tournament games should walk the field if possible before the match, or at least print out a diagram of the field from the tournament website if possible many big time tournament websites have down loadable pfd's of the tournament fields, that can be easily downloaded and printed out.
Some tournaments have a mandatory Captain's Meeting. Most mandatory meetings have a judge called the Ultimate Judge that runs the meeting goes over tournament rules, and answers questions from the players. Most mandatory meetings involve all of the teams involved in the tournament.
Choosing Effective Bunkers.
Solid game tactics in professional tournaments like the Prairie Speedball League require players to choose effective bunkers. Often each player on the team has a first bunker picked out to run to a game start. Some bunkers offer better angles towards targets than others. The temple, cone, and wedge are some of the many different bunkers that players will have available to them in games. Right from the Game On! Signal, players run out from their flag station and try to get as far up field as possible before they dive behind cover.
Movement and Timing. If you are seeing a lot of paint flying near your head and around, then try crawling. Crawling minimizes the size of the garget that you are giving your opponent.
