Water Polo - Player Positions
Like the sports paintball, football, and soccer, water polo team players have specific player positions in games. In team events that include passing and scoring, there are players responsible for defending goals or flag stations, mid players, and offensive players that shoot on a goal or try to accomplish some type of objective at the other team's end of the field. IN the sport of paintball, points are scored when a player from the other team are eliminated, or when a flag is hanged at the other team's flag station. In water polo, points are scored when the ball is fired into the other team's goal. In this article, we will look at how goals are scored in water polo, and at all the player positions in the pool.

Player Positions. The last line of defense for teams is the goal keeper. In soccer, the person who mans this position is the goalie. In lacrosse, the player who guards the goal is also call the goalkeeper. The goalkeeper keeps the ball from entering the goal and starts the attack. The goalkeeper can hit the ball with his fists when trying to clock shots. The goal keeper is the only player that can use both hands when holding the ball, and making throws. While players in games like soccer have much more defined roles, all players in water polo assist as defensive and offensive players. The left winger is a fast swimmer and a strong shooter. As a defensive player, he blocks the other team's right guard.
The right winger also makes a lot of shots on goal when he has the ball and is in position to make accurate shots when he is well guarded, he often passes the ball to the center guard or the center forward. AS a defending player, he blocks the other team's left guard. The center forward often takes passes from the left winger and the right winger. When the center forward is in position to take a high percentage shot, he fire on the goal. AS a defending player, he blocks the other team's center guard. Often, the job of the center guard is to draw an opposing player to free up place for his teammates. Located behind the center center forward is the center guard. The center guard directs offensive moves and blocks the other team's center forward. The left guard blocks the other team's right winger and passes to the front player. The right guard blocks the other team's left winger and helps with offense.
The players, officials, and other people around the pool work together to rotate players in and out of the game, and to make sure that the game is played cleanly and safely. The actual pool is 30 meters long and 20 meters wide, with boundary lines held up by floats just inside the edge of the pool. The goals are made of plastic or fiberglass, and are 3 meters long, and 0.90 meters high. The most competitive water polo events include the World Cup, held every 4 years, and the Olympics, also held every 4 years.
Paintball and water polo are both team sports, where the team with the most points at the end of the game wins. Water polo has timed periods, where play extends all the way through time expiration.
