Mountain Biking | Cycling Sports
While the other cycling spots have tracks or courses that are designed specially for road traveling or their respective biking events, mountain biking events take place over rough terrains with all the natural obstacles that you could think of: logs, grass, sand, dirt, and rocks. Mountain biking, like many other thrill sports, is a discipline that has become popular in the last 30 years. Though competitive mountain biking events do take place over trails that were specifically cleared for bike riding, they still have many of the same obstacles that riders would have to navigate in a completely natural environment. Mountain biking courses often include a few steep inclines and descents. There are a number of national groups associated with competitive mountain biking, including the International Mountain Biking Association and the New England Mountain Bike Association. Mountain Biking is one of a number of other cycling sports that also includes road racing, BMX, and track cycling. Mountain biking and BMX are both sports that originated in the United States and are still very young sports. Other new sports that generate a lot of enthusiasm from young players include rock climbing, snowboarding, wakeboarding, and paintball. Paintball, like mountain biking, has a number of paintball leagues associate with its sport, including the New Zealand NPPL and the South California Xball League.

Because riders in mountain biking races ride over mostly dirt courses that contain large objects like tree trunks and rocks, the bikes and bike tires must be built to take a beating and navigate over rough terrain The bike frames on a mountain bike are much thicker than you would observe on a road racing bicycle. The mountain biking bicycle has a front for suspension system. Its suspension, with an air foil or elastomer system, allows for accurate riding over rough terrain. The bike has a front and back break. The front break is attached to the moving part of the fork. The back break is attached to the back tire. Other features of the mountain biking bicycle are clipless pedals that allow the foot to be attached and freed quickly, and a rear derailleur that connects to the chain rings of the bike. The materials that make up the frame are designed to make the frame strong but light. These bicycle frames are usually composed of carbon, titanium, aluminum, or chromoly (chrome and molybdenum.)
The players uniform usually involves short sleeved shorts and a shirt sleeve shirt that is tight, so that riders do not pick up and drag from their uniforms. Unlike in road races like the Vuelta a Espana or the Giro d'Italia, racers usually do not enjoy the benefit of snack or refreshment stations along the courses. Riders are usually on their own in these races, so they must bring their own water battle (attached to the frame of the bike) and their own repair kit if the bike needs maintenance during the race. Some famous mountain biking athletes have included Missy Glove, Jordie Lunn, Tom Ritchey, Tracey Moseley, Steve Peat, and Rob Warren. Among the mountain biking discipline, there are several types of events. The Freeride/Big Hit, Trials, Downhill, and Cross-Country events are including in these 4 categories of mountain biking.
