The Madison Race Relay Technique - Track Cycling
Cycling events like mountain biking, bmx, track cycling, and road racing have become popular racing events since the invention of the bicycle. There are a number of popular racing events associated with track cycling, including the match sprint, the points race, the olympic sprint, and the Madison race. The Madison race is a long distance endurance race where two racers take turns riding during the race. The Madison race takes place over distances of 20 to 60km.

The Track cycling event such as the Madison race are run on the standards track cycling course, a 400m track with wood tracks. The tracks are between 7 and 9m wide, and the matches can feature as many as 20 racers on the track in the same race. There are 3 different tracks sizes, and the track the cyclist races on will depend on whether the race is for speed or endurance. Most short tracks are 250m. Most long tracks are either 333.3m or 400m. Track cycling courses are designed like a car race track, with two straightaways and 2 banked curves at the end of the straightaway. Sprint races usually start at the 200m line, and the finish line for events is usually placed on the opposite straightaway. The athletes race on the wooden tracks on the outside of the blue band, or cote d'Azur. The blue band is a section of the track that cyclists startup on before entering the wooden track section. The banking of times is steeper on short tracks than long tracks, as sprinters on the short tracks need to higher bank angle to keep their bikes from veering off the tracks at the higher speeds.
The Madison Race. This relay event got its name from the events that the race originated in, Madison Square Garden in New York. The first Madison race featured several teams of two racers who relayed back and forth over long endurance events. Up to 18 relay teams compete on track cycling courses that are 333m or 250m. Up to 20 relay teams are permitted to compete on the 400m tracks. The winner of the Madison race is the team that has accumulated the most points during the event. The relay in the race is similar to a 4x100 relay or a 1x100 relay, with the two racers pedaling side by side, and passing on an object that puts the incoming partner in the race. The objective is to complete the most laps during the allocated time. Points are earned at the conclusion of the race for laps completed, and also for timed runs during the middle part of the match. The final sprint counts for double points. The Madison race of track cycling premiered as a world championship events in 1995.
The Madison Race Relay Technique.
During the race, racers take turns riding. The relay is tricky and requires a great deal of practice before it is done efficiently. The incoming racer increases his speed as he approaches the outgoing cyclists. When they are side by side, the outgoing racer tags off to his partner by catching the outgoing is the end of line, and then launching him forward.
