Cycling | Sports
Cycling has become a popular sport in the last half century, with the quality of the roads improving so much the creation of bike trails specifically for recreational cycling, and the American sport of health through exercise. Cycling has branched off to include several popular recreational pursuits as well as competitive sporting events. Today, the sport of cycling has come to include events such as road racing, track cycling, BMX, and mountain biking. Today, the sport of cycling has become popular for its known health benefits, non impact aerobics, and for the popular tour de France. Today, the winner of the Tour de France is celebrated as one of the best athletes in the world. Lance Armstrong, the winner of 7 consecutive Tour de France championships, is mentioned in any list of world's greatest athletes, and is a household name along with Michael Jordan and Muhammad Ali. Read below our brief summary of some of cycling's most popular sporting events.

Road Racing
Road racing became a popular sporting event, starting with the first road race in France between Bris and Rowen, in 1869. The first speed racing world championships were held in 1895. The first speed racing world championships road racing were held in 1927. IN road racing, racers try to ride to a pre-selected distance as quickly as possible. IN other words, the fastest person to the finish line wins. Road racing players compete for individual records and times, but players may form teams that are tied to their country of origin or national sponsorship. Though teams players are technically competing against each other they do help one another to sometimes do things like box out a player from another team to keep them from passing. Some key elements to a road racing race are a pelot on, or cluster or rides, team can with coaches & trainers, and race director. The lead motorcycle rides in front of the lead racer to make sure that the roads are clean and safe and alerts up front crowds that the cyclists will soon be passing.
Track Cycling
While events like road racing and the Tour de France take place on public roads and thoroughfares, track cycling events take place in courses especially built for the sport of track cycling. The first race run on tracks especially built for track cycling took place in Saint-Cloud (France) in 1868. Later races included very long distance races such as events hosted by England in 1878. These long distance races in England would sometimes run between 12 to 24 hours, while racers would stop only for brief rest periods. Track cycling races have been around since the first modern Olympic Games in Greece in 1896. Track racing Olympic featured sprint and endurance races. Track cycling races feature Straight-aways, a jury platform, and a photoelectric cell at the finish line to photograph photo-finishes.
BMX BMX is one of the later generation brands of sporting events where winners and loses of competitions are judged on the style and creativity of their performance as well as their timed finishes.
Paintball, along with cycling sports such as acrobat or freestyle BMX, promote quick thinking and fast action in games.
