Baseball World Series
The Baseball World Series is also known as The . The Baseball World Series is the finals of Baseball, where the champions of each league compete for the baseball World Championship. The World Series is held at the end of , and in this classic event, the American League champions face off against the National League Champions. The World Series is probably the second most watched event in American sports, behind the football Super Bowl. The World Series is popular for a number of reasons. First, it is the championship round of one of the four major events in sports, which include baseball, football, and basketball. Second, the World Series is probably one of the oldest major sporting events in the history of sports. The World Series is a finals event that goes all the way back to 1903, where the Boston Red Sox defeated the Pittsburgh Pirates 5 games to three in a nine game series. Third, the World Series is an event that has featured some of the most memorable events in all of sports. This is a series event where heroes and Legends are made, and it has even shown some examples of the darkest elements in all of sports. For better or worse, the World Series has often captured the imagination of fans and players for a century now, fulfilling lifelong dreams, and breaking hearts in a series few other events can. Read on below for some of the Baseball World Series' most memorable moments.

2004 World Series. Boston Red Sox vs. St. Louis Cardinals
The 2004 World Series featured the Red Sox as American League Champions against the St. Louis Cardinals as National League Champions. This series was a best of seven, with the Red Sox sweeping the Cardinals in 4 games. This was a series that features Red Sox legend Pedro Martinez playing his last game in a Boston Uniform, and the slugger Manny Ramirez as the World Series Most Valuable Player. The series victory was the first for the Red Sox in 86 years, and broke what was called "The Curse of the Bambino". The legend of the curse of the bambino had its origins in real life events going back to 1920. In 1920, Red Sox owner sold Babe Ruth to the New York Yankees for cash so that the Red Sox owner, Harry Frazee could fund his Broadway Musical No, No Nanette. At the time, Babe Ruth was the Red Sox's most valuable player and already the most dominant player in the game. When Babe Ruth went to the New York Yankees, he went from being a great player to a legend, and he won the World Series for the New York Yankees for the first time in 1923. Up to 2004, the Yankees had won 26 World Series titles while the Red Sox had won none. The historical level of futility led to the paranoia that the Red Sox could be cursed.
Other Famous World Series Events
One of the lows in all of sports occurred during the World Series of . The series of events that transpired at this time became known as the . The name of this scandal is a playoff of the name of the Chicago White Sox, who had 8 of its players banned for life for intentionally throwing games.
