Tankball
Tankball is a tag style sport similar to its sister sport of paintball, but in this game the targets are tanks and not people. Paintball is a sport that grew out of hunting, it was the crazy idea of Hayes Noel, Charles Gains, and others to create the tag styled game where players would shoot at other people with non-lethal projectiles. Eventually the sport of paintball would grow where players can eliminate each other by shooting them with projectiles that would leave a paint mark on them. This tag-styled or elimination wail would eventually become more and more complex and the weapons that players would use in these games would become more exotic as well. From its humble origins, the paintball gun that players would use would change from stock guns that issued about 1 paintball per second, to semi-automatics that could shoot up to 25 paintballs a second. Players soon began to play more and more elaborate theme styled games, often drawing up on real events like the Battle of the Bulge of World War II. As the technology began to catch up with the players inspiration, new toys became available to the players.

Some tools that are popular with scenario players include the paint grenades, rocket launchers, and the amazing paintball armored vehicles. Paintball armored vehicles are any custom built or retrofitted vehicle that can be driven and has a mountain paintball gun with automatic or semi-automatic technology. These tanks usually have a gunner who is protected as he shoots paintball's at the opposing team. These tanks may also have guns that can shoot paint grenades or foam rockets. Most tanks that are out there are designed to shoot paintball and foam projectiles at other players. These tanks that are used in paintball games are usually just one object/obstacle/aspect in a big game or large scale scenario game that involves hundreds of other players.
Then there is a crazy game called Tankball, where there are one on one duels between two tanks that are operated by three or more players. Each tank can usually contain up to three paintballers, and there is usually a minimum of two players in the vehicle, one to drive the machine and one to operate the guns. In these Tankball games, the two tanks shoot paintballs at each other, and the roles and objectives in these games vary from field to field. Tankball is a very exotic game, and players interested in this discipline will have to look hard to find a game. Some places that host Tankball include Northhamptonshire England and Leicestershire England.
Tankball is an offshoot of the popular scenario games. Some appropriate products for scenario games include the Double Pod Pack and Broadsword vest from Special OPS paintball. Tankball provides links to Tankball related events and products.
