Marker Silencer
A marker silencer is a markers barrel or extension of the marker barrel that is designed to decrease the sound a paintball gun makes when fired. The marker silencer is a popular tool for layers who relay on stealth in games. One player who does rely on stealth during games is the sniper. The sniper is someone who goes out to the good ambush spot, hides, and waits for an unsuspecting opponent to come into range. The goal of a sniper is to go as long as he can into games without his hiding spot being discovered. The sniper uses a number of tools and tactics to remain out of site of his opponents. The first tactic that a sniper uses to remain undiscovered is taking a small number of shots. While inserts and back players often shoot a lot of paint, snipers try to make each shot count. By shooting a small number of rounds during games, there are far fewer changes for opposing players to see a stream of shots and trace the projectiles back to their point of origin. Also, by taking fewer shots there are fewer shots for opposing players to hear and pinpoint its point of origin. Some popular sniper makers include the Outkast Sniper II from Worr Game Products and the Tippmann Model 98 Sniper f/x from Pro Team Products.

There is also another advantage to players being able to eliminate opposing players without having to take too many shots. By greatly increasing a players shooting efficiency, it enables him to use paintball guns with loaders that take up much less space. Take the AM-4 from Action Markers. This marker has a loader that consists of one thin tube that holds about 15 paintballs. The design of the Am-4 is such that the loader only takes up about 2 or 3 inches of space above the top of the barrel. This allows players to be much more stealth like when shooting from hiding areas. Players can shoot from places without having that big and bulky box shaped hopper sticking out over the brush, or from over the bunker. Snipers try to make themselves as small as they can whenever possible. Other great products from Action Markers include the Sentinel TS, the AM-P Illusion Pro, and the 10 Round Stock Class Feed System.
Silent But Deadly. One of the keys to a sniper retaining his hiding spot is to keep the marker as quiet as possible when shooting. A marker silencer is used to quiet the gun as the CO2, N2, or compressed air forces the paintball out of the barrel. Though the silencer will not be able to eliminate all of the noise coming from the gun when a shot is fired, much of it can be reduced. A markers silencer functions by absorbing the sound and gas generated by the discharge of gas as it forces the paintball out of the barrel of the marker. The silencer works on the sound of the gas that explodes out of the marker, it does not soften the noise made by the internal components of the paintball gun. The MBF Silencer, Barrel from CMI International is long and parted to disperse the gas over a large surface area.
