Learn What Mistakes Not to Make
Having long term success in paintball, and not always getting eliminated in the first minute involves learning what mistakes not to make. Every newbie (nickname for new player) makes the same mistakes, which are great learning experiences if the player recognizes why he made the mistakes, and takes action to correct them. While we feel this article may be useful towards helping you to recognize certain patterns to avoid to not get eliminated, the most important paintball knowledge will come through experience. While there are too many paintball tactics to learn to discuss in this article, there are a number of key themes to think about. Playing the game at a high level means staying on the move, communicating with your teammates, and shooing regularly. Moving, shooting, communications, these are three themes that will make you a tougher target to hit, take opponents out of the game, and knowing where your teammates are. A failure to play while not utilizing these three themes will lead to a lot of the mistakes that get you eliminated from game early.

Moving. Staying on the Move. One of the a player makes is not moving. The longer a player stays in the same place, the juicier a target he becomes. A moving target is tougher to hit. Your opponent can kneel down and lock onto your position to really line up a shot if you just stay in the same place. Also you must consider that the goal of paintball is not to just not get hit. The goal of the game is to say in the game long enough to do something that will help your team win the game. That might mean eliminating other players, going for a flag hang, or even sacrificing yourself to help the flag carrier get back to home base. No matter what is going on in the field, you will probably not be helping your team by staying in the same place. A possible exception may be the sniper who will often remain in a hidden location for long periods in a paintball game.
Shooting. Shoot or Be Shot. If you rented the paintball gun, then you might as well use it. Sometimes the best way to keep the opponent off you is to shoot at them. If you think about it, you may be more reluctant to move or even point to an area where paintballs are rocketing out of. Shooting at the opposition can help keep them on their toes, and in the defensive. And by shooting and eliminating an opponent, you improve your odds of staying in the game longer, there are less opponents that you have to avoid.
Communicating. Know they Fiends from Enemy. Communicate with your teammates so you do not eliminate you own men. There is maybe no greater a moral killer than accident. If you see something moving in the bushes, you need to make sure that it is not one of your own. Also, it is good to communicate with your team to make sure that you are close to at least one of your teammates so that each of you has backup if one of you get into trouble. It is seldom good to go it alone. Learn what mistakes not to make.
There are many great fields to learn on to get experience and lean from ones mistakes, like Ditto Paintball, and in Sacramento, California. The more you learn what mistakes not to make, the longer you will be in the games to make and other contributions. Make sure to clean out your if your paintballs are not.
