A player's protective gear is any gear that is designed to shield the body from a paintball impact. The most important piece of a player's protective gear is his goggles or head protection system. A player's head protection system includes masks, goggles, and lenses. Because the head protection system will be covering most of the eyes and face, the system must not only protect paintballs from entering, but it must also be properly vented for breathing, and the lens itself must be clear enough for the player to be able to see well. There are a number of good mask & lens systems out there, and as the SKUL Mask from Game Face Paintball, and the Proteus Sports-Comm Goggle System from JT USA. Both of these types of systems are well vented for good ventilation, and have well assembled, fog resistant lenses. Other Paintball protective gear includes various pieces of body armor that can help to minimize the sting of a paintball impact. Paintball can travel upwards of 300 mph, and the more protected you are, the less the sting you will feel if you are bonus balled.
Protective Gear, Body Protection. JT USA makes a padded chest protector, the eMotion. It is Spiderman muscled too with muscles covering the front of it. This chest protector is the gear for you if you want to look like a super hero. The material that this chest protector is composed of is Rhino-Hyde, which is very strong, but also light. The Rhino-Hyde is puncture resistant and also flexible and vented for comfort and maximum protection. Side and should straps can be adjusted to make the chest protector fit securely around your torso. Game Face Paintball also makes a chest protector. This Game Face protective gear chest protector is lightweight but flexible, and it is built to breath so that it will not overheat you on a hot day.
Other Protective Gear. Now that your face and torso are protected you should start to think about the rest of your body. JT USA also manufactures padded Emotion shin and ankle guards. The insides of the protective gear by JT USA are lined with non-slip inner pads that will hold your gear in place, even as you are diving and sliding. When shopping for protective gear, think about one of the most vulnerable parts of your body, your neck and throat. The skin on the neck is very soft, and it is over exposed, as it is one of the few areas not covered by the jersey and pants. Raven USA makes a neck protector that will keep the front and back of your neck safe. This protector from Raven goes all the way around your neck, and is secured in place by a Velcro strap. The Raven USA neck protector even has slits on the sides to help the neck breath better and to accumulate too much sweat.
Raven USA has an entire line of all black protective gear called Optimized Bio Gear (OBG). The OBF pieces are made with extra stitching so that they don't break when they are exposed to player slides and tough rubs up against man-made bunkers. JT USA also makes knee pads for your knees that you only get two of.
