ASTM Paintball Standards
The manufacturers of paintball guns and gear pay special attention to the paintball ASTM Paintball Standards so that their products will be considered safe and well functioning. ASTM stands for the American Society for Testing and Materials and today is composed of some of the best scientists and engineers throughout the country. When the ASTM was first created, its focus was on the products and materials that went into the development on railroads. When the scientific society was first developed, there was no solid standards for the products that Americans used, people just had to hope that what they were buying and using was safe for them. Today that ASTM has thousands of volumes on standards for products that we use today, such as paintball barrier netting and other sporting equipment for sports such as artistic gymnastics and road racing. Paintball today is considered one of the safest sports as a result of the high quality paintball products that are on the market today. Some of the best manufacturers of paintball related products include Crossman, Custom Products, and Aardvark.

Aardvark works diligently to meet or exceed ASTM Paintball Standards on their many products, including their Aardvark Snort Barrel. The snorts barrel looks hot and fires straight as an arrow. The Snort Barrel is a two system that shoots long and accurately. This two piece system shines with its silver colored exterior and works well with almost any type of paint.
ASTM Paintball Standards. The ASTM has published lists of standards for almost any paintball related products. Some paintball products include paintballs, reusable paintballs, air systems, and paintball guns. A paintball marker has many parts that propel it's projectiles forward, including the trigger, gas power, and hopper, which feeds the gun with projectiles. Some popular hoppers on the market include the Ricochet AK UV from Ricochet 2K, Triumph SL-200 from Tippmann, and the Vlocity Jr. from Viewloader. Other components that can be attached to a marker include sites and scopes. The ASTM has published at least one online article specific to the use of scopes on paintball guns. The article says that the lens on paint gun scopes must provide players with a clear visual of the playing field. The ATM also says that the scopes used on markers must be composed of materials that will not break in the event of a paintball impact. Any scope that could break or shatter could pose a risk to a player. Some scopes currently on the market include the Red Dot Scopes from BSA Optics. Scopes are popular for back players and the paintball sniper, who shoots from long distances.
Other ASTM Paintball Standards include eye safety, the velocity of projectiles, and specification for paintball field operations. Active Standard F/776-01 states that players on the field must wear the proper eye protection at all times. The X-Ray Mask from PMI is one goggle system that provides full eye and face protection.
