Live Flag Rule
The live flag rule states that in games of Capture the Flag, a flag carrier can hand it off to another player if he is captured or eliminated. Sometimes, the game is played with different rules that say a tagged flag carrier must take the flag all the way back to the opposing team's flag station once hit. For a player to be considered tagged, there must be a clear mark of wet paint on the uniform at least the size of a quarter. Players in search of speedball and woodsball uniforms may purchase pants and jerseys from Viper Enterprises or a Team Effort Events. The Live Flag Rule is popular with players who want the games to move along quickly. Quick games mean that the eliminated players won't have to languish on the sidelines for long before a new game comes along. When other game rules state that the eliminated player must take the flag all the way back to the opposing team's flag station, the games can take a lot longer. Paintball games such as Tag Up, Reincarnation, and Top Gun have been played on paintball fields such as Shadow Lake Paintball Renton Washington, and Boondocks Recreation in Iola Texas.

When devising a strategy for your Capture the Flag team, you must consider how many players you will allocate to the offense versus the defense. If your teams push with too many players toward the opposing team's flag station, then their defense and home flag becomes vulnerable. If you drop too many players back onto defense then your offensive players might not have as much cover as they need to make a successful charge at the other team's flag. Usually, a team's game strategy includes a good balance between front players, back players, and midfielders. Mid-fielders are also called middle players, and their jobs are to protect the front players, and to assume the role of the player who has been eliminated. The mid-fielder's are usually paintball veterans who are trained to handle multiple positions on the field. Players at all three of these positions use paintball guns from manufacturers such as Tippmann Ordnance, Raven USA, and Toxic Performance.
No matter how many players you have loaded up on offense and defense, no players are asked to go it alone. In this game one team backs up the other, and the player towards the enemy side of the field expect and need protection from their cover players. Players almost always travel in groups of two or three, and these groups are called squads. Squads succeed when one player covers the other, loners rarely last in paintball games. Squads are responsible for eliminating other players and finishing off objectives on the opposing team's end of the field. Offensive minded squads try to move up the boundary lines towards the opposing side of the field, or they aggressively will go at the enemy if the enemy is outnumbered. Blacking squads are defensive squads whose purpose is to prevent the opposing team from accomplishing their objective. The National Professional Paintball League is played in the classic Capture the Flag Format.
