Rec Balls
Rec Balls are paint that is used for recreational paintball. Often, rec balls are provided by the field owners as paintballs are available for purchase or are mandatory for use in Games. Some fields require all paint that is used in their games to be bought from the field store. While this can be a drag for players that own their own paint, many field owners/operators contend that they would not be able to keep their fields open without the sale of their rec balls for games. This is often a frustration to players that have a favorite paint that they like to use in games, but most educated paintballers take into consideration all the expenses field owners/operators incur while building and maintaining their fields, and paying the referees. One common question is, what is the difference between rec balls, and paintballs that are used in tournament games like the NXL? While this is an oversimplified answer, rec balls are a more low end, high volume paintball that is a little more expensive, than pro-tournament paintballs. While the quality does not change a little from brand to brand, rec balls are a little cheaper, and a little less reliable than tournament paint used by professional teams such as the Philadelphia Americans.

The term "less reliable" does not imply that rec balls are cheap crappy paintballs that will jam your marker five times a day. It just means that the rec balls, such as the Draxxus Midnight, are not the all out top of the line models used in nationally televised tournament games. Rec-ball, by definition, means, any paintball game that is played without the expectation of tournament prize money or in the pursuit of professional endorsement. Think of Kevin Costner in the move "The Love of the Game." Or maybe not, because that movie was about a professional baseball player. Rec balls does not imply that they dimple easily or don't fly straight, it just means that that they are not the most absolute, top of the line.
There are a number of rec balls on the market that shoot long and straight, including the Rampage from RPS Paintball. Rampage paintballs will give you the confidence to break out of that inflatable bunker and make a killer shot at your opponent. Rampage rec balls are esteemed for their accuracy and bright fill can be seen from long distances. Rampage rec balls always break on the enemy, not inside your gun barrel. The non toxic fill from the RPS Rampage is friendly on your skin and on the environment.
Other quality manufacturers of rec balls and tournament paintballs are the reputable TC Paintballs. TC Paintballs has a product for virtually any event or competition. In chilly weather you may want to fill your hopper with Icebox Paintballs. Icebox paintballs have a fill with a lower freezing paint so that they can still do their job in severe weather conditions. For recreational paintballs on field and in the woods, the Drakula Attack and Blackbox are popular. The Blackbox rec balls are available at an inexpensive price, and will do their duty on the rec game.
