Team Building - Paintball
"I always tell these young guys, you're going to go through the trials and tribulations, but it's how you respond", Harrison said. "I think that tells more about a person than anything. I said "One thing you can control is attitude. Just stay upbeat, have strong faith and you can do anything! I truly believe that."
Rodney Harrrison's comments on personal faith and team building.
Rodney Harrison, of the New England Patriots, here is speaking on having faith in the people around you. The some goes for the people around you in paintball. Teambuilding in paintball means building a foundation of trust and partnership by working together to accomplish a group objective. On the paintball field, teammates must work together accomplish a goal in the game. Paintball is a sport that usually relies on a group effort to accomplish an objective, not individual glory. In games like capture the flag, the outcome of the game is determined by whoever is able to capture the other team's flag first. In events like these, it is more important to defend your teammate who is going for the flag than seeing how many players you can individually eliminate. Paintball is a team oriented sport that puts team goals above personal accomplishments.

Paintball is played under a variety of different formats and most versions of the game favor teambuilding over personal success. The game of President, one version of the Multiple life Games, is a game when an attacking team must get the "president" across to a certain point in order to win the game. In this game it doesn't matter how many opponents you hit or how many of your teammates get hit as long as you get the president to a certain area in the defensive zone. There may even be a moment in the game where you run directly into the line of fire to save the president from getting eliminated. The objective of the game is to advance the president to a point in the defensive zone without the president getting eliminated. In teambuilding paintball, the objective comes first, even if that means a little self sacrifice or even getting you eliminated.
Many recreational paintball fields offer events dedicated to corporate events and team building. Some of the United States most successful companies host paintball among their exercises that promote teambuilding and a sense of unity among workers. An article in the magazine Training & Development showed that US companies spent eight hundred million dollars on paintball in 2006. Paintball games are exciting and fun, and games where people really need to work together to survive and have success. The games on the field promote teamwork and team play. Teamwork is defined as the idea of groups of people working together cooperatively, on a corporate outing or in a sports team.
There are paintball fields all around the United States with staff and fields specializing in teambuilding events. Venture Up, based in Phoenix Arizona has a large field for exciting and fun games and a variety of obstacles on the fields for unique experiences. Some fun obstacles include cannons, log cabins, trees and sand.
