Paintball as a sport is a very popular entertainment event for people of all ages. Paintball has become popular for birthday parties, bachelor parties, and fundraisers. Paintball is a fun sport for friends, colleagues, and family to enjoy together regardless of their level of experience in the sport. Many paintball events are private parties, available for special reservation at local paintball fields. These type of entertainment events are called paintball parties, or private parties, or private games. In private games, groups of paintball players have one or more fields reserved for them for a given amount of time at a given rate. Included with the group admission fee at these events are the field admission, referees officiating the games, marker rentals for players who do not have their own gear, and enough paintballs for a full day of shooting. BFG Paintball Park is a unique complex that offers private events at a nearly 60,000 square foot indoor paintball facility. For each person participating in the group package, they get a field admission, head protection system, paintball gun, pod system, air supply, and 500 paintballs. Unless you are a complete loser, the 500 paintballs should be enough to arm you for an entire day. Additional paintballs can be bought at the BFG Paintball ProShop at an extra cost if you run out of paintballs.
The three main types of paintball entertainment events available to players are the private games, big scenario games, and tournament paintball games. Many paintball fields today offer multiple game formats, including recreational paintball games, private games, and tournament games. While local players are the bread and butter of local field owners, tournaments can be exciting to everyone involved because they tend to bring in players from different parts of the state and country. Tournament entertainment events give players an opportunity to compete for cash and prizes, and to play against other athletes that they have never competed against. James River Valley Paintball is one paintball operation that offers private games, tournament speedball, and rec games throughout the year. James River Valley will host a tournament called I-29 Series in the summer and fall of 2007. The I-29 Series will take place in several sites around the South Dakota, including Watertown, Brookings, and Dell Rapids.
