Paintball Magazines
Paintball magazines are a great source of information relating to the sport of paintball. Paintball is a hugely growing sport, and one that is constantly coming out with new products every month. For this reason, several paintball magazines publish monthly so that players can learn about new products like the BT Paintball Designs BT-4 Ironhorse, and the Redz International Ion Marker. The magazines bring the big tournament events to the local players who often can't afford the time or the money to see the tournaments in person. Some major events covered in 2007 included the Millennium Series, Disney French Open, and the Spyder Cup 2007 (www.spyder.tv). Paintball magazines like Paintball 2 Xtremes are a virtual paintball encyclopedia of information, with product review, major event coverage, and advertisements for products like Vents Avatar Goggles. Some paintball magazines include Paintball Sports, Paintball Games International, SPLAT Magazine, Facefull, and PaintMagazine.com. Other magazines and publications include Paintball City, P8NT Magazine, Crossfire Paintball Magazine, and Force of Nature.

SPLAT - The June/July issue of Splat has several articles that concentrate on the paintball discipline of scenario games. The first few pages of this issue include sponsored advertisements for the Tippmann X7. The X7 looks like a weapon you might see on a real battlefield, and it can fire lightning quick. The X7 is popular because of the way it performs, the way it looks, and for its ability to be customized. One player spoke of this machine saying "when I heard about the new X7, I couldn't wait to get my hands on it. I've been a general of over 200 players and I've never seen a marker that could have a different look for each every one of these guys. The X7 is crazy." Other Tippmann milsim (military simulation) models include the XP5, X16, AK-47, X36, and XP5SD.
SPLAT magazine goes out of its way to publish information for a variety of different types of paintball events. In their June 2007 edition, they wrote about Spyder Cup 2007, and the prizes that awaited the winner of their free 3-Man tournament. The three wining players from the 2007 Spyder Cup each receive a Hummer H2 plus an additional one for their local paintball store.
In the October 2006 issue of Paintball Games International, they published a funny and informative article on subtle and not so subtle ways to cheat. Obvious game infractions include blatant wiping, shooting at a player from less than 5 feet away, and altering a marker to increase muzzle velocity. There are other infamous moves that are much more subtle and harder to catch. One such move is called the Cover Up. In this deceptive maneuver, the player who is tagged points to one location for the referee to inspect while covering up the area where he was actually hit. In the Gear News section of their October 2006 issue, they review and recommend products like the Proto Harness, CP Air, Camo Profiler, and HSU Drop Forward. Other paintball magazines include Action Pursuit Games.
