Gold Medal Paintballs by Nelson Paintballs are a very colorful brand of paintball projectiles, and come in a variety of colors. In April, 2007, gold medal paintballs could be purchased online at Paintball Online. Nelson are a unique paintball manufacturer in that they only manufacture paintballs. Other manufacturers produce paintballs as well as Automag Bolts, barrels, drop forwards, and chest protectors. Nelson paintballs only manufacture paintballs. Some brands from the Nelson line have included the special forces clean paintballs, Whack paintballs, and affordable paintballs. The paintballs that were promoted on the Nelson Paintballs website in April, 2007 were the special forces series, Anarchy tournament formula paintballs, Nel-Splat, Hemorrhage, Hot spot, and precision. Some products from this line have a thicker fill than others, but all brands are designed to break on their targets, and not in the barrel.

The gold medal paintballs are not the same tournament grade as the Anarchy, but they do their job well in many paintball games. Players who have tested the gold medal paintballs are far away impressed with how straight these projectiles fly. The colors from the gold medal series look good, and players who have used them have reported very few barrel breaks. Players have used these projectiles with markers such as the Armotech Zeus 61 R.I.S., Crosman 3357.50 caliber pistol, and the Paintball Stuff Sidekick Semi. Other paintballs that players have used in games have included Xtreme Boolets paintballs from ANS, Sterling Game Paintballs, from Arrow precision, and Scorched paintballs from Diablo. Diablo, along with Nelson, are another tight in the world of paintball manufacturing. Heat paintballs, Formula 13 paintballs, and Dusk paintballs are just a few of the many great brands of paintball's produced by Diablo.
Gold Medals Series Paintballs come in a variety of shell colors. All the shells from the gold medal series come with two color maps, with gold as one half on each paintball. The shell colors from this series include gold/orange, gold/red, gold/blue, gold/magenta, and gold/black. In the past, these paintballs were advertised as tournament grade paint. Other Nelson products that are more readily available include the Hot Spot and the Precision. The Precision are designed for recreational use, team practice drills, and shooting exercises. The precision paints comes in several different shell colors, with fill colors of green, pink, yellow, and orange. Fields paintballs from Exodus paintballs are also a good brand of field paint.
