Paintgun Types - Types of Paintguns
There are few main types of paint guns that are available on the market today. The three main paint gun types for purchase in a paintball store or online are stockguns, pumpguns, and semi-automatics. Stock guns and pump guns are more moderately priced but have limitations in game action. The most obvious limitations of the stock guns and pump guns is rate of fire, sometimes referred as shots fired per second. Semi-automatics have a distinct advantage in this area because they can shoot one paintball every time you pull the trigger. In a paint gun like a pump gun, you have to pump the gun each time you want to get a paintball into the chamber so you can shoot it. Stock guns cost less to rent than a semi-automatic, but you would be at an overwhelming disadvantage against an enemy armed with semi-automatics.

Semi-automatics are easy learn how to use than paint gun types such as the stock gun and the pump gun, that they are more expensive, and you will be tempted to shoot lots of paintballs, which could eat into your budget. With a semi-automatic, you simply need to load the hopper with paintballs, cock the gun twice, and it recocks itself for each shot. Each pull on the trigger shoots one paintball.
Even in the category of semi-automatic markers, there is still a lot of variation on the technology that is used to power and operate your marker. Included among the categories of semi-automatic paint guns are low end mechanical markers, high end mechanical markers, low end electronic markers, and high electronic markers. Prices in paint gun types range from $30 for some of the stock guns and pump guns, and to well over $1000 for some of the high end semi-automatics. In general, the stock guns and pump guns are less expensive than the electronic semi-automatic markers.
