Paintball Equipment
The following is a complete list of all the important paintball equipment you will need for a recreational, tournament, or speedball game. This article will discuss most of the paintball equipment & gear you will need to shoot your paintball gun, operate your gun, and build the fields for your paintball games. This article will describe the paintball marker, and all the equipment you will need to make sure that it works properly, as well as the gear you need to build your uniform and to create bunkers & fields.
Marker. The most important thing you need is your marker that shoots the paintballs. There are over a hundred markers on the market, including the Freestyle 2005, from Indian Creek Designs, and the Mini from Invert.
Goggles/Face Mask. The most important piece of equipment you will need in the game is a face mask or goggle system to protect your eyes. Two excellent head protection systems include the Vents Cylus Goggles from Empire, and the Spectra Flex-8 Full Head shield from JT.

Paintballs. Paintballs are the projectiles that come out of your paintball marker. Paintballs come in a variety of colors, sizes, and prices. While there are exceptions, the general rule with paintballs I that you will get what you pay for. Generally, the more you pay for paintballs, the more accurately they will fly, and the more likely they will be to break on their intended targets. Some high quality paintballs include Charge Paintballs from Blue Arc, and Wild Streak paintballs from Brass Eagle.
Air Source Air Supply. The air source powers the paintball from the marker, through the barrel, and at its intended target. Various sources of air include a compressed air tank, CO2 tank, or cartridge to power the paintball gun.
Paintball Loader. The paintball loader, or hopper, feeds paintballs into the marker chamber from on top of the paintball gun. Some quality loaders on the market include the Reloader Hopper from Empire, the Halo TSA LCD from Odyssey, and the Ricochet 2KX from Ricochet 2K.
Protective Clothing/Uniform. Part of being a good paintball player means looking and acting the part. Looking the part means wearing the right clothing appropriate to the type of paintball game you are participating in. If you are playing woodsball or scenario games, you would select camouflage clothing or a Ghillie suit. In pro tournaments, you would select long pants like the Formula 13 Pants from Diablo, or a jersey like the Talon Jersey from Animal Paintball.
Knee Pads, Elbow Pads, & gloves. Gloves, Elbow Pads, and knee pads are designed to keep your body safe as you are running, sliding, diving and getting shot at. Gloves like the Pull Gloves from Blackstar Paintball protect your hands from a painful paintball impact, but are still flexible enough to allow your hands to easily hold the marker and perform a rapid fire on the trigger.
Pods to carry paintballs. The paint that you start with in your loader/hopper probably will not last you through the entire game. Pods like Java Speed Pods from Kingman be strapped to the waist of a player for a fast and easy pouring of paintballs into the hopper to reload during a game.
Squeegee or Swab. If a paintball bursts in the marker or marker balled, you must use a squeegee or swab to clean it out to keep your paintball gun working properly.
