Harness
A player's harness is a system of pouches, pockets, and straps that a player carries around his legs, wrist, or waist to transport paintball gear with them during games. The equipment that a player will need to carry with them may vary from game to game. In the Big Game, a player may need to carry a lot of paint with them, as they may travel miles away from the staging area during the course of the event. Some Big Games that will take place in 2006/2007 include Big Game 007 and Warped Paintball Big Game. Typically, a player's harness for Big Games will include pods for carrying paintballs, a water bottle, pockets for tools, and pockets to carry a paint grenade. The longer the games last, the more paintballs that a player will need to carry with them. Some popular harness systems include the EZ pack 4 Down From 32 Degrees, the 4 Snapp pack from Allen Paintball Products, and the Pimp Packs from the Balzlistic Inc. The goal of a good harness system is not always to buy the one that allows you to carry the most equipment, as active players do not want a lot of gear and weight slowing them down. Tape runners and front players will often be bouncing from bunker to bunker during games, and they will want a harness system that does not get in the way when they are running and diving.
A player's harness system allows them to carry all the paintball gear they will need, including paintball pods, squeegees, 12 gram CO2 cartridges, paintball grenades, paintball pistol, etc. Players will need to carry a harness with them because their paintball adventures will often take them far away from the staging area, and the game is not just stop for them just because they get paint stuck in their marker. If a player runs out of paint during a game, they cannot just call a timeout to go back to the home base to reload, they are often out of luck. To stay in the game, players will often need to service their marker on the spot, or reload paintballs to continue to support their teammates. The Redz Dimension Pack 3.2, NXE Recreational 3 Pop Harness, and Paintball Junkies 4 Vertical Harness all help players get the job done in recreational paintball and tournament games.

What kind of harness a player uses often depend on the game they are playing in and the position they are playing on the field. In scenario games, some of the player positions include the utility man, squad leader, and heavy machine gunner. The heavy machine gunner will be shooting a lot of paint during games to protect his teammates that are charging up the fields. The heavy machine gunner may choose a harness such as the Bullet Pag 5 & 4 from Extreme Pag. The Extreme Rage Pag 5 & 4 is a popular piece of gear on 7 on 7 and 10 on 10 tournament games where players are peppering the field with a lot of paintballs. The Pag 5 & 4 holds a lot of paint and moves well with the running or kneeling player. The tubes on this harness can be accessed quickly.
