Outdoor Paintball
Outdoor Paintball was the first type of game played, outdoors in the woods of upstate New York and New Hampshire. Paintball is a sport that can be played year round, as there are thousands of outdoor fields and indoor fields. There are many different types of arenas for the game, and the games have been played in almost any type of weather conditions and terrains. There are outdoor paintball fields in every state, and games have been played on the beaches of California, rural wooded areas of New Hampshire, and near the salt lakes of Utah. The only things you really need for outdoor paintball is the desire to play, the right equipment, and the knowledge of player safety. Some outdoor paintball tournaments include the Extreme Game Series in Texas, Heartland Young Guns League in Illinois, and Best in the Midwest. Among the thousands of outdoor fields, some of the best include Extreme Paintball in Dover Arkansas, GAC Speedball Field in Centralia Missouri, and Antioch Paintball Park in Palmdale California.
Antioch Paintball Park is a dynamic park that hosts special events such as the Nor-Cal NCPS Paintball Series - an Official XPSL feeder series. Prizes given out at this tournament event include Quest markers and other paintball gear. The Nor-Cal Paintball Series is a paintball tournament series for Beginner and Rookie class players. In the beginner division, the leaders in the standings through the first two events included Sadistic, Team 69, Bigstick Egor, and Fuel. Rookie leaders through the first two 2007 events include team Slayer, Fighting Cocks Re, Savage Syndicate, and the Fighting Cocks Blk.
In Massachusetts some exhilarating outdoor paintball fields include Hoops Archery and Paintball in Clinton, PAL Paintball Bridgewater in Bridgewater, and Mill City Paintball in Lowell. Mill City Paintball gets its name from its famous past as an industrial giant and its factories that were as big as a thousand feet long. Though Lowell is not as much of a giant in the textile industry as they once were, they are still a city worth visiting, with its Lowell Historical park, Lowell Spinners Minor League Baseball Team, and University of Massachusetts-Lowell College. Mill City Paintball is open 5 days a week, with games played as late as 9:30pm Wednesday through Saturday. MCP is currently seeking to increase their profile in the tournament circuits, and is looking to sponsor two teams. Some paintball teams that competed in their 2006-2007 tournaments included Ballerz, D.C. White, Less Lethal, and the Sons of Plunder. Other Massachusetts fields include Fox 4 Paintball and Wolf Hill Paintball.
In California alone, there are nearly 75 outdoor paintball fields, including American Canyon Paintball Jungle in American Canyon. This jungle has Young Guns events, a website that publishes action photos from its previous games, and airball fields for a change of pace. It's located near another field called Venture Games Paintball in Clayton. Venture Games Paintball matches start early, with the gates opening at 8:30am.
