Night Paintball
Traditionally, paintball is a sport most popular in warm weather, and the convenience of daylight. In the last few years, though, night paintball has become an up and coming event. Night paintball offers a series of new challenges as a result of limited night vision. Night Paintball is a division of the scenario paintball games where players duplicate paintball missions in a fictional setting. In scenario paintball, different fictional settings include simulated settings from historical battles such as D-Day, or historical settings like towns in the Old West. Night paintball offers a great fictional setting for night time raids in the same style as navy seal special ops missions. Night paintball players are able to navigate through terrain with the use of field lighting or even night vision goggles. Night paintball is also a radical form of the growing paintball division called woodsball. The term woodsball, Scenarioball, bushball, and woods paintball are sometimes used interchangeable. In woodsball, paintball games are played in naturalistic settings, with the woods being a common favorite among scenario game players. In woodsball, playing fields are large, and bunkers, hideout points, and trenches and barriers are usually natural objects such as rivers, rocks, trees, and natural troughs and trenches in the terrain. Woodsball has a number of different variations such as Elimination, or Slayer, Mercenary, Civil War, or night paintball, the subject of the article.
For many paintball players, these woodsball games represent the spirit of paintball in its true form. While professional play and tournament play often include paintball field with standardized boundaries and inflatable bunkers, woodball natural settings and open fields offer a feel many think returns the game to its original glory. Night paintball and other woodsball games offer wide open spaces, diving behind the rocks, ducking behind trees, and coming out of the trenches to launch an attack.
