Sweet Spot - Sweetspotting
Sweetspotting is the practice of concentrating a high volume of paintball fire at bases or bunkers that are the most traveled. The practice of sweetspotting, or shooting at the sweet spot means shooting at this area even when you do not have a specific target within your sites. Some key sweetspotting lanes may include key bunkers or a path just under the flag. The goal of shooting at the sweet spot is to eliminate a player as he wanders into the sweet spotting area.
This move is an especially good tactic in games where there is a time limit. In two sensitive games, you will know that it is inevitable that your opponent will meander into a certain popular location. In the case of a game like capture the flag, a player must cross the path in front of the banner sooner or later, and you want the paint raining down on him when it does. Try to learn the practice of sweet spotting for use in rec play and tournament matches, and other key tactics like the ones listed below.

Try shooting on the move. Try shooting as you are walking, or shooting on the run. Practice shooting as you are coming around the corner. Practice holding your marker up at eye level as you come out of cover to shoot. A good paintball player will come out of his cover point already prepared to fire. Purchase a big supply of inexpensive paint and practice as much as you can shooting on the run. Talk to your teammates. Keep the lines open between your teammates so that you are all covering one another and all know where each other are. By having good communication with your teammates, you will minimize the occurrence of friendly fire accidents. As a team, you will want to develop your own custom calls and signs so that you all know what each other are doing.
Avoid coming out of the same bunker in the same spot. If you keep coming out of the same spot, your opponent has an opportunity to settle in, and line you up for an elimination.
Practice Fire discipline. Fire discipline is being able to consistently hit what you are shooting at. Learning good fire discipline can be achieved in a number of ways. First, buy a high quality paint gun that has a straight shot in a high rate of fire. While the skill of fire discipline is still dependent on the aptitude of the operator, it still helps to have some good equipment at your disposal. Some accurate and precise paint guns on the market today include the Spyder Electra with Eye, the new Black Magic Autococker, the Dye DMG from www.dyepaintball.com, and the Proto Matrix from Pro Guns.
Increasing your playing time is the best way to improve your game. This means dedicating a certain amount of time per week to getting on the field and working to improve all of your skills. If you are involved in tournament play, make a commitment as a team to running through practice drills together.
Practice accuracy during shooting drills.
