Flag Hang | Flag-Hang
The Flag Hang is one of the most common objectives in a paintball game. In games like capture the flag the object of the game is to cross one end of the field, capture the enemy flag and bring it back to the home base without getting hit. To understand the flag-hang and how it affects the games you will be playing in, let's look at the classic version of the game of capture the flag.
Capture the Flag. The game of capture the flag has two flag stations, with two hung flags at each flag station. The two flag stations are placed on opposite ends of the field, with a team starting point next to each flag station. After the start of game signal, each team tries to cross the field without getting eliminated and capture the enemy flag. If a team is successful in capturing the enemy flag he will then try to turn around and bring it back to his starting station. If he makes it back without getting eliminated, then his home team wins. This version of capture the flag does not involve a flag-hang, but just the act of carrying the opposing team's flag to the home base.

Other versions of capture the flag games involve a flag hang at the opposing flag station. In these games, the home team starts the game with a leader holding the home team flag. The person who is holding the home team flag is easily identified, as he carries the flag in his hand, around his arm, or wrapped around his neck. The flag carrier must then make it to the opposing team's flag station, and then hang the flag up the flag pole in a flag hang. The first team to perform the flag hang wins the game. This version of the game is often called the Charge of the Light Brigade.
Other versions of paintball games that feature flag stations and the flag hang include attack and defend games such as The Bunny Game and Attack the Fort. Like the charge of the light Brigade, the object of the attack the fort attack and defend games is to take the home team flag into enemy territory, make it to the home team's flag station, and perform a Flag-hang. There are a couple unique characteristics about this game, as well as other attack the fort games. In attack and defend games, one team is given the job of defending one area where an objective is about to be accomplished, while an attacking team must try to break through these lines of defense and perform an objective there. In the game attack the fort, the defense is confined to the area immediately to the interior and outside of the fort. The attacking team begins the game from an area well outside the fort and must try to storm the fort without getting eliminated. If the attacking team is successful, they will get the flag into the tower section and perform the flag hang.
