Barrel Tap
A Barrel Tap is when an opposing player taps a player on the back with the barrel of his marker, eliminating them from the game. This is a great way to eliminate your opponent without having to fire on him from close range. Generally, it is considered unsportsmanlike to shoot at a player from closer than 20 or 25 feet. Also, this automatic means of tapping him out saves your opponent the humiliation of making him surrender. Generally players at local field and in leagues know each other and each one wants to let the others know that he is a tough guy. So no player will want to surrender, even if it means trying to fight back and getting shot at close range. But with the barrel tap maneuver, one player can tap out the other without anyone getting hurt.
Typically, the barrel tap may happen when one player is bunkering the other. When a player is bunkering, he charges straight at a bunker that is occupied by a player on the opposing team, shooting as he goes. Usually, when one player is bunkering the other, one of the two is going to get tagged. If no one is tagged before the two players get close to each other, then the players keep shooting, the player in the bunker surrenders, or the bunkering player executes the barrel tap. Paintball barrel taps and bunkering are performed on paintball fields like Kansan paintball Ranch in Arkansas City Kansas, and TC Paintball Outdoor Field in Traverse City Michigan. TC paintball has an online forum where players can communicate with each other and plan games, and huge speed ball fields with bunkers that are 10 - feet long and 10 - feet high.

Bunkering and getting bunkered. Bunkering is a move that rarely works with less experienced players, as there are so many things that can go wrong and players executing this move will need to make adjustments on the fly. Usually the bunkering maneuver will be performed by the front player, and the players getting bunkered will be the other teams back players or mid fielder's. When a player is attempting the bunkering maneuver, you will be out in the open and running straight into enemy lines, so you will need to make several decisions while out on the open field. For this reason, experienced players have more success with this maneuver.
Bunkering is usually a late in the game tactic, for when time is running out, or when the target bunker is in a key position on the field. If time is running out and your team is down on points, you may need to bunker players to reverse the score. There will also be times when your team has you well covered and your running game looks clear. In that instance, you will have an easy run up to your bunkering target, and you should execute them all. The barrel tap has been used at All - Terrain Paintball Inc. in Mehahga Minnesota.
