World War I - MilSim
World War I and the individual battle are popular for paintball scenario games for a number of reasons. World War I was the first war where the use of rapid fire weapons was the most common form of weaponry. World War I marked one of the first times that trench warfare was such a dominant aspect of a military conflict. This war also marked a new ear of weaponry, with battles being fought from the air, sea, and land. This war also marked the first time where technology was such a part of the fighting, with planes, tanks, and automatic weapons causing as many casualties as the soldier's firearms. Some important elements of World War I include the Vickers machine gun, battleships like the HMS Dreadnought, and armored tanks. This was marked the first time that outdoing the opposition in military technology was as or more important that the soldiers that fought the battles. World War I, along with World War II saw such rapid advances in technology that affected the world for decades to come.
The Players.
World War I had so many moving parts, and so many counties involved. The battles of the war were fought between the Allied Powers and the Central Powers. The Allied Powers included the Russian Empire, France, British Empire, Italy, and the United States. The central poles included Austria-Hungry, the German Empire, the Ottoman Empire, and Bulgaria. The German Empire was also a central enemy of France, Brittan, and the United States during World War I. All of the countries involved in this conflict sustained heavy losses, with over 20 million soldiers wounded, and over 10 million dead by war's end. The battles, new technology that came out of the war and political leaders of the countries involved all affected the world as it is today. The way wars were fought went in a new direction, and the world has never been he same since. This marked the first time that a single bomb or weapon could take out tens or even hundreds of men, women and children.

World War I saw the birth of weapons of mass destruction. Some of these weapons of mass destruction included chemical warfare weapons, such as phosgene, mustard gas, and chlorine. Other new, deadly weapons included naval guns that cold pummel other naval war ships, and hit targets over 1 mile away. As the war went along, the aircraft, navy craft, and military vehicles got bigger and more deadly. Aircraft carriers were used for the first time in World War I. Some of these first aircraft included the MHS Furious.
Technology, Weapons and Machines.
Before World War I, naval battles at sea featured two shops firing cannons until one ship sank, and land battles were fought with rifles and pistols. Soldiers from both sides of the conflict were usually close enough to look each other in the eye and battles were fought mostly with hand held firearms. In this war, new weapons and machines were used for the first time that would change warfare as we know it. Some new weapons used in this war included flamethrowers, the Browning Automatic Rifle, the machine gun, armored cars, and tactical aircraft.
