Airsmith
An airsmith is a technician or player who is an expert in the inner workings of the paintball gun. An Airsmith is a person who has an intimate knowledge of how mechanical and electronic markers work, how to maintain them, and how to fix them. There is a lot that happens inside a paintball gun once the trigger is compressed, and a lot of reasons why a paintball may break inside the marker or not travel straight for the target. If a paintball does break inside the marker, it may be because it is too wide for the barrel, or it may be because one of the components inside the marker is defective or worn out. In Airsmith will know how a blow back marker and blow forward marker works, and you will be able to isolate the facts in marker components that make the machine there are a number of great markers on the market with high-end components, including the Smart Parts Shocker SFT, the Mongoose LCD BBS, the Spyder Electra, and the Tippmann 98 Custom.
An airsmith knows what it takes to keep your marker running at it's optimal level. An airsmith knows that your marker is a critical part of your gear. If a player brings his marker to the airsmith for inspection, one of the first things he will look at is the bolt. A bolt that sticks can cause the paintball to break or not fly consistently from shot to shot. A bolt that sticks could damage other gears for components on the inside of the marker. A bolt that regularly sticks will reduce the muzzle velocity consistency from shot to shot. Players count on velocity consistency from shot to shot for shooting accuracy, and a consistency problem will lower players performance. If a poorly functioning marker is brought to an airsmith, you look at two things that could go wrong with the marker bolt. First he will check to make sure that the bolt is properly lubricated. The airsmith will check to make sure that the bolt is property lubricated, and he will check with the markers manual to make sure that he uses the right lubrication with the marker. The airsmith will also recommend to the player that he carry that lubrication with him to games and tournaments. All markers will perform better when you treat them right. Some excellent markers that are available for purchase include the Airgun Designs X-Mag, Action Markers Sentinel TS Pro, Pursuit Combat Systems Electronic US5 Combat Paintball Markers, and the Angel 67 Fly.

A good airsmith will know how to check for marker damage, and you will know how to fix leaks. If you suspect that your marker has a leak that are having trouble finding it, spray some Windex around the spot you think is leaky. The spot you sprayed Windex will have little air bubbles if the area does have a leak.
