These competitions serve to make a paintball player think and move more quickly on the paintball field. In snap shooter competitions, a player's skill level at snapshooting is tested. Snapshooting is a paintball drill where a player is able to snap up from out of his bunker, quickly line up a shot, fire , and duck back before the enemy is able to return fire. Snapshooting is important because a player only has so much time to line up a shot and fire before the enemy is able to regroup and return fire.
Snap-Shooter competitions and snapshooting are practiced in speedball arenas as well as inflatable min arenas. While the mini arenas are designed for one or two players on each side, speedball games can have up to 7 players on each side of competition. Snapshooting is a skill that takes a lot of practice, and the more time you spend at it, the better player you will become.

Most snap-shooter competitions are played in small or indoor fields with inflatable bunkers as cover points that you will practice snapping out of. When you practice snapshooting, you should practice from all of the positions that you may be playing from in a real game. For instance, you should practice snapping up and into a shooting stance after crawling, kneeling, crouching, or standing. It can be difficult to go from a lying down position to standing up and firing, so take all the necessary time you need to figure out how to do this efficiently.
Snap-Shooter competitions are valuable exercise for paintball players to learn a variety of skills in one exercise. A player with good snapshooting skills can make a quick read of the field to make an accurate shot.
