Shooter Tag Games
Shooter Tag Games refers to the next generation of paintball games that use lower caliber paintball markers or even lasers as elimination weapons. Shooter tag games are a new series of paintball games that use slower moving paintballs or non-paintballs for game eliminations. These elimination balls take the form of paintballs that explode at lower rates of speed, with balls that break more easily. Other balls used in shooter tag games are not paintballs at all. For instance there is a division of shooter games that use hook and loop balls. These re-usable hook and loop balls stick to the special vests worn by the players. Sticker ball is one popular name for paintball games that use hook and loop balls.
Shooter Tag games are very popular because they involve guns and ammo that fire at much lower rates of speed than would be experienced in traditional paintball. While most paintball markers shoot .68 caliber paintballs, shooter tag games such as marker-ball, milsim, airsoft, and bunker-ball use .55 caliber paintballs. These lower velocity paintballs are much less painful to players and do not have to types of marks and bruising as would be observed from .68 caliber paintballs.

The rise of lower impact shooter tag games, less painful hits, and non bruising aspects have made this genre of paintball more palatable to the general public and families looking for new fun party planning ideas. In the past, mothers and business even planners have shied away from paintball due to its reputation as a dangerous sport. The occasional bruising and high velocity of paintballs have caused some party event planners to shy away from the sport. Now with shooter tag games, party event planners could create games centered around special inflatable mini arenas where people shot at each other with non-painful paintball shells. Many of these inflatable mini arenas come with netting that will hold the slower moving paintballs in. Even with these slower plump projectiles, the safety of families and other people near the field must be considered. Unless the game is outdoor laser tag, the safety and most importantly eyesight must be considered regarding everyone near the paintball field.
Fields that elect to offer low impact shooter tag games to clients must still consider the safety of everyone in or near the paintball field. Though the .55 caliber rounds are moving at a much slower velocity, players must still learn how to operate their marker safely. Players of low impact games must still study the American Paintball League (APL) field safety program and must still wear safety goggles on the field. Shooter Tag Games players must still test the velocity of .55 caliber markers with a chronograph.
Two shooter tag games that don't even shoot paintballs have become very popular in recent years. The first of these non splatter games are games that use hook and loop balls. These games are played with markers that shoot hook and loop balls that stick to special vests. Some stat use hook and loop balls are safe, and economical because the ammo in these games are re-usable. One example of shooter tag games that does not use ammo at all are outdoor laser tag games and indoor laser tag games.
