Designated Holding Area
The Designated Holding Area is where paintball players are supposed to go when knocked out of the game. The players who get hit with a paintball that leaves a paint mark on them go to this area. Players in the designated holding area are not allowed to shoot at players in the game, nor are they allowed to shoot at active players. The designated holding area is where players participating in the game Paintburner go after getting knocked out of the game. But this is one of a number of paintball games where players who are tagged are not out of the game for good, but can come back in a later stage of the game. It is fun for players to play various paintball games, because it keeps the sport from getting boring, and it encourages players to use many different skills and game tactics. Other game variations include X-Ball, back-stab, Alamo and Civil War. In the paintball game Civil War, players can play any game variation, but with the added challenge of playing without a hopper or loader. By adding the Civil War variation to your game, you get rid of the hoser. The hoser is the player who can never take his finger off the trigger, as he is constantly firing. There are a couple of ways to spot a hoser. First, look at the bunkers that he was firing at. These bunkers will still be dripping with paint. The paintball hoser is also known as a sweeper.
Paintburner and the Designated Holding Area. Most paintball games have a place where players must go when they are tagged. Or players to be eliminated from games, they must get hit directly by a paintball that breaks and leaves a paint fill mark on a player. The game paint burner begins with as many three man teams as you can make, and all the games begin with the teams on the field together. There is no real objective in this game, other than to shoot as many players as you can. If you are a player that gets shot, you go to the designated holding area and wait there until there are enough players there to form a three man team. Once there are three players in the designated holding area, you have a new three man team, and you call a referee over to bring you into the game. A referee will escort a newly formed team out into the field, away from the action and any other teams, if possible and signal their entry with a quick whistle blast. There are number of great coaching whistles on the market, including the Power Lung Sport Whistle, the Coach Whistle available at Hockey Monkey, and the Acme Thunderer Nickel Plated brass Whistle. The players coming out of the designated holding area may not be fired upon until the referee blows his whistle or makes some other type of signal. The cycle of players coming in and out of the designated holding area continues until the end of the game. These paintball games usually last about 30 minutes.

Paintball games like paint burner are popular on fields such as Danger Zone Paintball in Ft. Lewis Washington and Robin Hood Paintball in Harve de Grace Maryland. Robin Hood Paintball is both a paintball and Proshop, with products such as marker specific accessories, sights, grips, and high-end mechanical markers. Robin Hood Paintballs hosts recreational games, tournaments, one wood spool field, and a field called "The Dog Leg".
