These Canadian Leagues bring competitive ball to paintball teams close to their local area as well as national games for some of the major competitive teams. Like the NPPL, the Ontario Paintball Players League is a 5 event championship series that hosts at several sites in Eastern Canada. The OPPL games in this series are played in the 5 man and 7 man formats. The OPPL has experienced an incredible growth since 2004, both in the number of players involved and in the caliber of teams competing. In 2004, the league was voted the best series in Canada and since 2005, the league has been expanding its divisions and became a stepping stone to the NPPL series. The level of play and players involved in Ontario Paintball Players League games is impressive, and the action is intense and exciting. Other paintball Leagues outside the United States include the UK Paintball Sports Federation, DPL, P8ce Series, and Finnish Paintball Federation.
The teams and events related to the Ontario Paintball Players League are covered in paintball magazines like Gag'd and Paintball Games International. Other tournament leagues whose games are featured in their mags include the BCPPL, MR Series, Canadian XBall, the PSP, and the NPPL.
Action Pursuit Games and Action Paintball Games have published event coverage and the latest happenings going on in the OPPL to keep their Canadian paintballers informed. In Paintball 2 Xtremes online magazine, the OPPL was described as the NPPL of Canada.

The Ontario Paintball Players League has 5 championship events every year, with a series champion being crowned at the end of the year for each division. On August 20th, 2005, the OPPL held its fourth event of the season at X-Fest in downtown Toronto Canada. The event was expected to draw huge crowds based on previous OPPL events the same year. The first event of the OPPL 2005 season took place at the Great Canadian Outdoor Expo. The Great Canadian Outdoor Expo is a huge multi-sport sporting complex that has facilities for everything from jetskiing to camping to hunting. Spectators and players had a lot to see and do between paintball games, and there were plenty of games available for players of all experience levels.
Players from Canadian paintball teams such as the Miramichi Inferno, Newfoundland Voodoo Reign, and Ontario Boonie Boys have competed in the tournament events from one of Canada's many prestigious paintball leagues.
