The NXL: National XBall League
The NXL: National XBall League is one of the most well know paintball leagues in the country, with games played in Boston, Miami, and San Diego. There are over 10 professional National XBall League www.nxlpaintball.com leagues that compete throughout the year, including the San Diego Legacy and the Philadelphia Americans. The Americans and the Legacy play NXL events all over the United States, including Baltimore, Oakland and Chicago. The XNL is a high profile league that draws sponsors like Smart Parts, Dye, and Draxxus Xtreme Sportsgear. Draxxus are prolific makers of a number of elite paintball products, including their Pulse Loaders, Blaze Paintballs, and Competitive Edge Paintballs. Draxxus Competitive Edge Paintballs are at a modest price and almost never break inside the marker. The National XBall League is also affiliated with the PSP, Sup' Airball and Paintball Statistics. Pro Paintball Statistics have an online database of paintball teams and their records in various tournaments. Some teams whose rosters and records are published in the Pro paintball Statistics database include the Baltimore Trauma, Anger Management, and the CA Ironmen.
NXL Style Rules. The rulebook of the National XBall League games structure, fields, paint checks, and player eliminations. Players participating in NXL games are expected to ready the rulebook prior to the day of the tournament. The first chapter of the rulebook covers field design. Tournament operators are expected to keep a clean and orderly field; no sharp or dangerous objects are expected to be found on any area of the XBall field. The playing fields should be clean and level. Basically, the only elements on the field should be the grass or turf, the bunkers, the players, and the flag stations. They playing filed will be standardized at 150 feet long by 125 feet wide. Each game will be run by 6 field judges and one ultimate judge. Before and subordinate judges are permitted to make a ruling on the field, their judgments must be authorized by the ultimate judge.

Start of Game. Players report to a designated waiting area at least 20 minutes before the start of the game. Players are ten directed to a designated holding area where they will await instruction from one of the judges to enter the field. Players are expected to have a relatively clean uniform so the judges do not view any object on their clothing as an elimination shot. Players are expected to educate themselves prior to the event as to what types of tools are permitted for use in games. Attempting to bring any illegal tools onto the field could cost your team penalty points.
Point Scoring. A team will be awarded 1 point for a completed flag hang. A completed flag hang occurs when a player breaks the plane of a team flag station with a flag. A team will be awarded 1 point if the coach on the other team forfeits the game.
