Northwest Paintball Series - NWPS
The Northwest Paintball Series is also known of the NWPS or Northwest Paintball. The Northwest Paintball Series has seen some of the most spirited and competitive matches from the best teams in the Northwest U.S. Other U.S. regional leagues include the New York Xball League and the Global Paintball League. The NWPS are sponsored by companies like Proto and CDR www.cdrsports.com. Like in the NPPL, the teams that compete in NWPS events are ranked for individual tournaments, and they are given a season ranking for each year. In tournament season 2007, some high ranking teams from their three divisions include team Notorious DBS Paintball.com, OD, OTC, Lethal, Past Energy, and Syper.
In season 2007, the ranking system from the Northwest paintball Series went in a new and exciting direction. Rather than simply creating a cumulative season score by adding up the results of all the vents, the NWPS has produced an innovative system. In the 2007 season all the registered teams compete in the first 6 events. Each team gets to drop their lowest even, and their top five scores are totaled. When their Northwest open final is over, the top three ranking teams are posted. Then a finals match will take place where each team players a best 2 out of 3 against the two other teams in each division. The team that wins out in this finals round is awarded a number 1 ranking. Promoters of the Northwest Paintball Series supply free paint for these tournament events. The beginner players receive 4 free cases of paint. Teams from the open and rookie divisions receive 5 complementary cases of paint. The accolades go to the winners of each team from individual tournaments during the season. The series champion at the Northwest Open achieve personal glory, fame within the industry, and a huge trophy to keep and remember the championship.

A teams ranking is added up by taking the total score out of the 6 events, and dropping your lowest score. The Northwest Open Championship event is worth double points. In each event, the 1st place team is awarded 100 points, and each team after that gets 100-2X with X=tournament ranking. If a team ranked fifth in an individual tournament, their tournament score would be 100-2(s) = 90. So points are as follows: 1st = 100, 2nd=98, 3rd=96 and so forth.
The top 3 novice teams in 2007 as of April 2007 included the Notorious in 1st, Montana Carnage in 2nd, and Apollo in third. The top three rookies up until April 2007 included DBS paintball.com, Pbrack.com Rookie, and Finale. Sponsors for events such as the Rookie Finals and Beginner Finals included Archon and Zap Paintball.
