Global Paintball League (GPL)
The GPL or Global Paintball League is a tournament series that draws over 300 paintball teams every year. The GPL offers many challenging paintball fields and courses and tournament prizes that include paintball guns, paintball gear and many great memories in the making. Prizes for Global Paintball League games include paintball jerseys and paints, paintball uniforms, markers, head protection systems, and paintball paint and CO2 cartridges. The friends, family, boyfriends, and girlfriends and spouses all pitch in to create a family friendly atmosphere for GPL events. The games played involve seven person teams, five person teams, and three man competitions. Family volunteers, volunteer their services that include providing refreshments and loading paintball hoppers. While the competitions on the fields are fierce and competitive, off the field the atmosphere is very positive and fan friendly. GPL-Global Paintball League games are represented all over the United States, including Del Hobbies Paintball in Pedricktown, NJ. Del Hobbies Paintball featured some action packed competition on Mother's Day Weekend, 2006. Del Hobbies Paintball and other GPL events draw some of the countries most competitive paintball teams and prizes for its participants including air tanks, high end markers, and paintball gear.
The Global Paintball League was founded by husband and wife team Brian Barno and Cindi Poole and has grown into the largest regional series in the northeast. The GPL is a well known tournament series that draw corporate sponsors, print media giants like Action Pursuit Games, and some of the games most prominent players. The Global Paintball League now has a permanent flagship base at Del Hobbies Paintball, a playing field and paint shop. Del Hobbies Paintball is owned and operated by Tom and Pam Del Signore.
GPL games are played out with large concourses between playing fields for spectators to easily see game competition and to root on their friends and family. Global Paintball League games take place on 4 fields in five divisions. The GPL tournaments offer games for beginner, intermediate, and advanced level players. The GPL offers seen man play at the D2/D3 level. The GPL boasts tournaments featuring events of over 120 teams, the most in the northeast region. The GPL is a fun friendly atmosphere, and tournament players are treated to some complimentary paintball gear if they are winners in their respective competitions. Some perks included in the GPL are parties for players and families like the Redz International Player's party held at the local Holiday Inn. The Del Hobbies Paintball field itself offers reasonable prizes for stocking up for game competition. The staff, referees, and volunteers for the event are friendly, accommodating, and knowledgeable. Founder Cindi Poole was seen handing out carnations to players wives and girlfriends who were present to support and root on their significant other.
