.68 Caliber Rounds
.68 caliber rounds are the size of most paintball rounds that are used in the sport. Caliber refers to the diameter of a guns projectile. A round that is .68 caliber is .68 inches wide or a .68 hundredths of an inch. Nearly all paintballs bought are .68 caliber rounds. Some .68 caliber paintballs include Ultra Paintballs from CORE, Crucifier Paintballs from Diablo, and Crush Paintballs, also from Diablo. Diablo is one of the most prolific manufacturers of .68 caliber rounds paintballs, including several lines used in rec and tournament fields around the United States. Crush Paintballs from Diablo is a high end model that is usually reserved for tournaments and other competitive games. Crush is a new competition grade paint that will always break on their targets, and has a fill that is very difficult to wipe off. Diablo Crush paintballs are available in cases of 2000.
The caliber size of a paintball also relates to the bore size of the player's marker barrel. Caliber when it comes to the paintball refers to the diameter of the projectile. Caliber in reference to the marker barrel refers to the diameter of the interior of the barrel. For a player to get consistent, accurate shots, the bore size of the barrel should be the exact same size as the caliber size of the paintball. One rule to remember when purchasing paint and marker barrels is that hardly any paintballs that you buy will be exactly .68 inches wide. Some may be caliber and some by be .678 caliber. Does this little bit of a different in size really affect the way the ball fires out of the marker? Absolutely it does. If the paintball is smaller than the barrel bore, then it may not travel straight out of the marker. If the paintball is actually bigger than the interior of the barrel, then it may be likely to split inside of your machine. There are several marker barrels available that offer optimum performance, including the Twister Barrel from Empire, and the Ultra Tips from Evil.

The Ultra Tips from Evil are available in several colors, including blue, green, silver-white, red, and black. The ultra tips are vented to disperse air throughout the marker and make your .68 caliber rounds shoot straight. The Evil Ultra tips are very light and offer players and 12" long. The Ultra Tips literally give you a lot of ban for your buck, as it gives off a loud noise when shots are fired.
Inferno Paintballs from Diablo shoot long and straight, and are one of the best .68 caliber rounds on the market. The Inferno line from Diablo score nearly perfect reviews from customers around the country. The Inferno Paintballs are heavier than rounds from other paintball manufacturers, allowing these projectiles to travel longer and more accurately.
Premium paintballs from Fuego and Impact paintballs from Game Face are other .68 caliber rounds that are designed to break on impact. Impact Paintballs leave a mark that can be easily seen from far away.
