X - Paintball Terms and Definitions

• XBall - Slang for the NXL, national professional league, or play in the fast, confrontational style of play of that top competitive league. XBall is a speedball format designed to be more interesting for a television audience. The game is timed, and the objective is to score as many points as possible in the allotted time. The basic game is center-flag, and when a team wins a round the players have a limited time to re-stock on paintballs and air and return to the field for the next round. Players who incur penalties are sent to a penalty box, like in the game hockey. Players sent to the penalty box cannot be replaced, and the team of the penalized player must play shorthanded.
  
  
  
  
• X-Ball Light - Like XBall, but only has one period which is usually 15 minutes long. The first team to reach a pre-set number of points (usually 5 or 7 points) wins the game. If neither team reaches the point goal by the end of time regulation, the team with the most points at the end of the game wins. XBall light is offered by PSP as well as in regional series like the Carolina Field Owners Association. The Carolina Field Owners Association has several dynamic events coming up in Summer 2007, including the River Jam. At the River Jam event, many spirited XBall battles will feature action up to the final second in their 3 series divisions: the CFOA 5-Man, CFOA Xball, and PBC 3-man. The CFOA have a couple of championship events coming up to close-out the 2007 season, including the RiverJAM and the Tarheel Open. Sponsors for the Tarheel Open and the RiverJAM include Powerlyte, First Endeavor Paintball, and Alex P Tato.
  
  
• XO - Executive Officer - The Executive Officer is second in command to the general. The General and the executive Officer are both characters in military themed scenario games. Other military themed paintball characters include under cover agents, platoon leaders, squad leaders, role players, and grunts. Like in a real military hierarchy, there is a chain of command where each soldier takes his orders from someone above him, all the way up to the general. Some well publicized scenario events coming up in 2007 include Desert Rat Paintball Scenario, Air Force's Presidential Assassination Game, and Civil War II hosted by Battle Creek Paintball.
  
  
• Xtreme Sports Fulfillment (manufacturer) - A producer of electronic marker circuit boards and DM4 Chips. Products from their inventory include their XSF Advantage Spyder Kit and their XSF DM4 Advantage Chip.
  
  
• Xeon (manufacturer) - manufacturer low-end mechanical markers such as the X25, X15, X14, and X13. The X25 mechanical marker is no longer in production despite positive reviews of its performance and fire components such as the polished drop back tank cradle, anodized/polished tank adaptor, and polished raised sight rail.
  
  
• X Factor (paintball game variation) - this is another game variation where one team has the objective of taking out the other team's captain. But in this game, a team must first capture two of three posts before they are allowed to go after the captain. If a team marks the other team's captain before they have hung their team colors at two of the posts, they automatically lose the game.
