U - Paintball Terms and Definitions
- UN (United Nations) Number - The Dot (Department of Transportation) Number found on the Cylinder (bottle) label. For example UN1066, the "UN" prefix to this number indicates that 1066 is recognized throughout the world as identifying nitrogen. Sometimes "NA" (North America) will appear as a prefix. NA numbers are recognized in the USA and Canada.
- Urban Camouflage - This style of camouflage was developed for both urban civilization combat as well as snow-covered terrain.
- Under World (paintball game) - This is another paintball game variation - that involves three groups of players: Humans, Werewolves, and Vampires. The Underworld game is specifically designed for night paintball, where special props like glow sticks can be used by certain players. The props for use in this game include glow sticks, an air horn, and a stopwatch.
This game is best played under the moonlight, where figures can be identified by the glow sticks that they carry with them. There are three teams in this contest: Humans, Werewolves, and Vampires. Fore every nine players there should be six Humans, two Werewolves, and one Vampire. Humans and Vampires can wield paintball guns, but Werewolves must travel without weapons. Humans must wear glow sticks that can't be covered, and the glow sticks must be worn for the entire game. A referee is given an air horn to announce the start of the game, and a stopwatch to monitor the game clock. Most Under World games last 30 minutes.
All three teams begin the game at separate sections of the perimeter of the field. As soon as the horn is blown, the three teams begin hunting each other. The Humans and Werewolves have an early advantage, with their semi-auto markers. The huntings and eliminations continue until the referee blows a second horn, this one a long continuous blast. When this horn is blown, it signals a full moon. A second air horn is blown in two quick bursts, signaling the end of the full moon. During a full moon, the werewolves are impervious to bullets, and cannot be shot. Werewolves during a full moon or at other points in the game can eliminate other Vampires and Humans by physically tagging them out. Humans are the most vulnerable during a full moon because of their clear visibility due to the glow sticks.
Each horn signaling the start of the full moon comes 50 seconds after the horn signaling the end of the full moon. Each full moon lasts exactly 10 seconds, and its end is signaled by two short bursts from the air horn. Humans can be eliminated by being tagged by a Werewolf or shot by a Vampire. If a Vampire Shoots a Human, the Human must remove his glow stick and join the Vampires.
