M - Paintball Terms & Definitions
- Marker - a marker is another name for a paintball gun. The marker gets its name for what happens when the projectiles it shoots hits its target, it marks the target up with paint. Markers are also called paintball guns. Paintball marker is the second most searched paintball keyword phrase on goggle and yahoo, after the phrase paintball gun. Some high performance markers include the Strange Ion, Southern Paintball Concepts Python Impulse, and the Warped Sportz "Rocky Cagnoni" Dark Angel IR3. The "Rocky Cagnoni" Dark Angel IR3 gun is light and shoots lightning quick. The Dark Angel IR3 has rocking features such as a COPS censor, Gate Feed Port, patented Rock Easy Ball Detent, and 12 inch infinity barrel.
- Mask - A required safety device worn on the player's head to protect the eyes, nose, mouth, and ears from the impact of a paintball. The terms mask and goggles are used interchangeably, but mask is really a more descriptive term because all paintball mask systems are designed to protect the eyes, forehead, and face. A Mask is also sometimes called a head protection system. Some Mask systems cover more of the head than others, but that is more a difference between player preferences than the quality of the system. All systems have a strong lens in place that will not fracture if hit by a speeding paintball, and a mask that will not budge if hit by a number of projectiles. Some excellent mask systems include the Empire Vents Avatar Goggles, JT Axiom FX-10 Thermal Mask, and UForce Vantage Field Vision Mask.
- Medic - In scenario paintball; a medic is a specialized player allowed to touch same-side marked players in order to instantly reinsert them into the game.

- Medic (paintball game) - Medic can also refer to a paintball game where certain designated players can use a limited number of playing cards to heal tagged players so that they can become live players once again. This game is different from freeze tag, where any other teammate can bring a tagged player back into the game by tapping him on the head. In this game, there are two evenly numbered teams, with one designated medic on each team. The Medic wears a white armband and carries a towel. Medics are also given a playing card for each player on their team. If a teammate is marked, they go down where they are as if rounded and can be rescued by the Medic by wiping the paint off with the towel and giving him one or more playing cards.
