L - Paintball Terms & Conditions
- Lane - An imaginary line between bunkers that represents an unobstructed path between them. A lane is used in the content of suppressive fire, where "shooting a lane" describes a shooting pathway from one bunker to another. Shooting a lane is also called lane shooting.
- Lane shooting - is when a player shoots at a space between bunkers to tag out another player or to keep him advancing from one bunker to the other.
- Lace/Laced - Expression used when a player is shot with a rope of paintballs.
- Lands - The uncut surface of the bore of a rifle barrel, as opposed to the grooves.
- Lenses, thermal (thermal lenses) - A dual lens system. The outer lens is made from har
d polycarbonate while the inner lens is a different polycarbonate composition that allows anti-fog jell coat to stick to it. The two lenses are attached to each other with a rubber space between the two lenses becomes a thermal barrier that reduces fogging on the inner lens.
- LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) - An electronic rectangular display used to display complex information like text or graphics. An LCD screen can be used to change firing modes and can include a game clock. Most markers with LCD screens require some type of external light source to be read direct sunlight or in the dark.
- LED (Light-Emitting Diode) - A very small electronic component that emits light when electricity is supplied. LED screens use up very little energy and can be very bright. LED screens are typically used as an on/off indicator in electronic paintball markers. Some markers that use LED technology include the Mongoose II Reincarnation LED from Diablo, Silver Bullet LED from Psycho Ballistics, and the Black Dragun LED from M3 Paintball Products.
- LPR (Low Pressure Regulator) - is a regulator with an output pressure below approximately 100 psi. The low pressure regulator supplies the solenoid with the proper pressure to drive the ram/hammer. Also see regulator and HPR.
- Lit Up - To be shot up in an humiliating way on television or in front of a crowd of people/players.
- Loader - the loader is another name for a hopper. A loader can sometimes also be a feed tube from the hopper to the marker. Some of the industries best performing loaders include the Q-Loader from AIC, Reloader B from Empire, Mach 400 from Zap, and Quantum from Viewloader. The Quantum Viewloader can hold a maximum of 140 paintballs and has a feed rate of up to 8 balls a second. If you are looking for a marker with a faster feed rate, then you might consider testing out the eVLution II Y-Board from Viewloader. The eVLution II Y-Board can feed up to 19 balls per second, which is speedy enough to deliver high rates of fire.
- Liquid - Slang for Co2 in liquid form.
- Leapfrog - Leapfrog is a paintball tactic where two or more players take turns moving forward, each person passing the one in front of them.
- Longballing - The poor tactic of shooting at a target that is out of a players reach, or out of a player's range.
