Dead Meat
Dead Meat is a slang paintball term for a paintball player who calls attention to himself as an easy target. A player may negatively call attention to himself in the way that he dresses, through his game actions, or if he demonstrates a lack of self confidence through his mannerisms. It is important to act confident and self assured on the paintball field. Just like the prey of the African Lion, your opponent will go after the weakest link first.
As a newbie paintball player, there are a number of things you can do to announce yourself as "Dead Meat". One dead giveaway of a dead meant player is the way he dresses. Any player showing up on the field in a t-shirt and jean shorts will be a target of ridicule from veterans as well as a juicy target on the field. A proper paintball uniform will include at the very least long pants, a long sleeved shirt, and a full face protection system that covers the eyes, face, head, and ears. Other additions to the paintball uniforms would include an undershirt that covers the neck and a hat to cover the top and back of the head and gloves.

A dead meat paintball player may show in shorts, jeans, and short sleeves t-shirt. This signals fresh meat to the paintdog. In the plains of Africa, even the strongest, fastest lion is no match for a gazelle in the prime of his life. For his meal, the lion will often go after the weakest link in the chain. The lion will scan his "field" for the youngest, or oldest gazelle, or one that is sick or injured. The on that stands out to him as the easiest kill I n the one he will go after. Don't be the one that stands out as the easiest kill. To be regarded as a serious paintball player, look and dress the part. Wear hiking boots or high topped athletic foot wear, and long sleeved clothing. A favorite style of pants and shirts is woodland camouflage.
Walking tentatively or unsure of yourself on the paintball field will make you stand out as dead meat. When on the field, walk with purpose, and demonstrate that you have a plan of action and are not wandering around aimlessly. Don't let yourself be intimidated by veteran players. Make decisive maneuvers on the field and demonstrate that you have a plan of action and are thinking steps ahead of the competition.
Notion stands out like a juicy target like a bunched up group of players. If three or more players are standing next to each other, also know as bunched up, it creates a nice big target. A more appropriate formation would be for the group to walk in a line at least ten feel from one another. That way, they are not bunched up, but are still close enough to protect each other.
A dead giveaway fro a new player is when he does not appear to have a plan of action for the start of the game. Experienced players will at least know the first position they will move to at the start of the game. Move from bunker to bunker with purpose, and know where your teammates are at all times. If you stand out there alone, you will be dead meat to the opposition. And try not to stick up your head in the same place twice.
