Constant Dumping
Constant Dumping is the act of constantly shooting paint throughout the game. Players who are constant dumpers will consistently go through the paintballs in their hopper and need to reload within games. Players who shoot at these rates are also known as hosers. Constant dumpers affect the game in a number of ways. With the amount of fire coming from that player, opposing teams must also fire a lot of paint back to keep them on their toes. When there is constant dumping going on, there is a lot of paint spilled on players, bunkers, and the ground. This also makes playing these games very expensive for some individual players, and can price some players out of games. With cases of paint costing between $30-$80, some players who are economically challenged really want to make these projectiles last. Some manufacturers who sell paintballs include RP Sherer Recreational Products and ZAP Paintballs.
There are a number of paintball games that are designed to keep the number of flying projectiles to a minimum. In the game Civil War and Musketball, players are expected to play without a hopper or electronic loader. Players in this game can use any type of marker that they want to, but they must manually feed the gun with one paintball at a time. Another low shooting game is Blackjack. In the game Blackjack, players are only allowed to load their hopper with 21 paintballs. The name Blackjack is a reference to the highest scorer that a player can get in that game. Players in the game Blackjack can shoot paintballs at any rate of fire that they would like, but when they run out of paint, then they are out of luck. Teammates are not allowed to share paint with each other if one runs out of paint. One strategy for those out of paint in the game Blackjack is to run around confidently and not show that you are out of ammo. Sometimes, players out of paint will sometimes use their body as a shield for teammates who are still armed. Players in the game Blackjack are not allowed to go back to a home base or staging area to refuel, they must make good with what they have.

Another sport that keeps the hoser at bay hopperball. In the game hopperball, players are only allowed 200 paintballs to play with. 200 is a cool number as this is how many paintballs will fit into a good sized hopper. Hopperball does not prohibit constant dumping, but it does cause players to conserve their ammo so that they don't run out of paint by the end of the game. Hopperball is popular with players who don't want to shoot through a case of paintballs a day. Some paintball brands include Nelson Anarchy, Viewloader, I-Balz, and TC Paintball Viper Venom Series.
Hopperball is becoming more and more popular, and is even an event at some tournaments. The Great Western Series (GWS) has a limited paint rule for its tournaments. The GWS is part of the PanAm Circuit.
