Squeegees
Squeegees are one of the most important tools that a player will carry with them. Squeegees are instruments used to clean a marker barrel. All of your hard earned money will have gone to waste if in the middle of a paintball game, you have got paint stuck in your market barrel or breach and you can't clean it. Paint in the barrel can cause additional paintballs to chop in the barrel, or they can cause paintballs to hook and not fly straight. You should carry squeegees with you at all times to make sure that you will be able to clean out your marker right away should paintballs break in the barrel, If paint chops in the paintgun, the sooner it is cleaned out the better. Players themselves are expected to carry squeegees with them at all times. Referees are often required to carry these marker cleaners as well. In most recreational and tournament field, referees are expected to carry hand held chronograph, and a squeegee for cleaning jammed barrels.
The are many squeegees on the market, some work better than others, and all get the job done. The Viper Squeegee form Allen Paintball Products is a common design; it consists of a long flexible cleaning rod with a gentle rag on the end. The end with the swab is inserted through the barrel of the marker and the rod is pushed back and forth, until the paint is cleaned out of it. The Viper Squeegee is cheap and effective and retailed for around $8 in early 2007. The design of the Viper Squeegee makes it a suitable tool for clearing out all types of debris. While some squeegees are not designed to clear out twigs, sand, and dirt, the Viper is good at completely clearing out all sorts of unwanted debris from your marker. If your squeegee of choice is the straight rod design, then you might want a squeegee holder that can strap onto the leg of your uniform. The Battle Buffer from GamEnterprises is built to do its job efficiently, and keep your marker shooting straight. The Battle Buffer is efficient at cleaning out any unwanted junk that gets stuck in your marker, it is easy to clean and won't break on you. Cleanup for the Battle Buffer consists of a ten second rinse in luke-warm water.
Some squeegees are good for cleaning most paintball guns, but not those with super-long barrels. The Sniper Wiper Squeegee by Rhinotech USA is along enough to clean out almost any barrel, and it is thick enough to cleanout barrels with a G90 base size.
