POW | Paintball Games
POW is one of many paintball games that does not have a flag capturing or flag hanging objective. POW is similar to the game Reinforcement where a player can tag eliminated players back into the game. POW is a game between two evenly matched teams. Each team will have their own starting point from opposite ends of the field and a POW Holding Area for each team. The POW holding area is located near the other teams starting location. This means that if there are two teams, a red team and a blue team, the POW holding area for the Blue team will be near the Red team's starting base. Both teams begin the game trying to eliminate members of the opposing team. If a blue team member is marked, he must go to the POW holding area next to the Red team's starting base. The red team always leaves a couple of team members back as defenders to guard their POW holding area.
Players in the POW holding area can be tagged back into the game by a live teammate who has reached the location. Each player in the holding area must be tagged to be set free. The objective of the game is to eliminate all of the players on the other team, or to have the most opposing players in the holding area when time expires. These games usually last between 20 to 30 minutes. Other popular games on recreational fields include Hostage Rescue, Trophy Hunter, Reinforcements, Paintburner, and Down But Not Out. Paintball games such as Reinforcements and POW are popular for players who want to always be in on the action, and not watching from the sidelines. Eliminated players in these games can be tagged in and resume competing and don't have to stand there twiddling their thumbs for half an hour. Paintball games like these have been popular of fields such as DFW Adventure Park in Roanoke Texas and Pev's Paintball in Woodbridge Virginia.

In the game Reinforcements, two teams of equal strength square off, with each team at a starting point at their own flag station. One player from each team wears a special armband. Only the designated player with the armband can go back to the flag station to get reinforcements. If the designated player with the armband is tagged he must return to the flag station. Once there, he can tag other eliminated teammates and they can all return to live action. The player must return to live action after tagging other players back in, he cannot stay behind to defend the flag station. Players can stay behind to guard the flag station as active defenders. The player with the special armband must tag each player one by one to get them all back into the game for a second life. Players who were tagged while the flag was out of the flag station are permanently eliminated from the game and cannot be tagged back in.
