Hounds and the Rabbit | Paintball Games
Hounds and the Rabbit is one paintball variation where the goal of each team is to eliminate all the other players on the other team. Most paintball games have two teams of equal strength squaring off against one another, but in this game on team face much more formidable odds. This game begins with two teams, the Hounds and the Rabbit. The Rabbit team is composed of two to three players, while the rest of the team includes the Hounds. The Rabbits must do one of two things in this game, eliminate everyone on the Hounds team or to simply survive until the time on the game clock expires. These games usually have time limits of between 15 and 20 minutes. Some game rules award the Rabbit team a victory if they manage to survive for the entire game, while other game rules state a draw if both teams have players available at the end of the game. This game is very challenging to the Rabbits, since they are often outnumbered three to one, or they may be going up against even greater odds.

So the Rabbits face long shot odds in a game where they are greatly outnumbered in player strength. To give the Rabbits fighting chance, they are allotted 5-10 minute lead start from the start of the game to when the ref blows the whistle a second time. When the ref blows the second whistle, the chase is on. The head start allows the Rabbits the chance to find a hiding area, an ambush area, or the high ground to level the playing field a little bit. Or in some games, the rabbits are given semi-automatic markers while the Hounds are only allowed to use pump style paintball guns. Some semi-automatics that might be available to the rabbits might include the Dark Pulse Impulse from Warped Sportz, Miami Rage A1 from WDP, and the Shocker SFT from Smart Parts.
Regardless of the variation of Hounds and the Rabbit you are playing, the rabbits can win the game by eliminating all of the Hounds. This will take guts and usually either superior firepower or a serious skill advantage. Often a couple of experienced players may challenge a lower group of new players to a game of Hounds and the Rabbit. Since the Rabbit will not be able to take on the Hounds in a head on shootout, they usually try to find a location where they can sit back and ambush the hunters at just the right moment. In this game tactic, the hunted will use stealth to turn the tables on the enemy. Since the Hound's have the size advantage, they will work together to overwhelm the rabbits once they locate one or more of them. The hounds are always ready to come together and exploit their player advantage once they find one or more rabbits. Foxes always try to maintain open lines of communication because they want to team up against every chance that they get. Other paintball games variations include Predator, POW Transport, Fire Wire: Interference, and President's Bomb Threat.
