Fox and Hounds | Foxes and Hounds | Paintball Games
Fox and Hounds is a variation of the paintball game of Elimination. Elimination games have the objective of eliminating all the other players on the other team. In the game of Elimination, the objective is for one team to eliminate all the other players on the other team. In the game Top Gun, it is every man for himself, and the last player standing at end of the game wins. In the paintball game Foxes and Hounds, one larger group, the Hounds hunts one smaller group, the Foxes. The game begins with the hunted team getting a five minute head start to hide before the Hounds go on the hunt. Typically the Fox team consists of two or three players, and the Hounds consist of the rest of the players. The objective of the game is for the hounds to eliminate all the foxes. There may be a number of variations to this game depending on the size of the field, the experience level of the players, and the bunker arrangement of the course. If the field is pretty large and there are a lot of natural or manmade bunkers to hide, then there will usually be no changes to the basic format. If there aren't a lot of hiding places, then the game may be changed a little bit to give the hunted more of a fighting chance.
Under adverse circumstances, the foxes might be given certain markers or stealth clothing in order to survive a Fox and Hounds game. The Hounds may be allowed a big head start, or the players selected to the Hounds team may be the most experienced players on the field. Third, the shooting capacity of the foxes may be limited, in the type of markers they are allowed to carry, or the amount of paint they are allowed to use in a game. In some versions, the Hounds may only be able to use stock guns. Some examples of stock guns include the AM-P Illusion from Action Markers www.actionmarkers.com and the Blade Turbo from Brass Eagle.

There may be a few different objectives to the paintball game Fox and Hounds. The game may end in a stalemate of neither team in totally eliminated before time expires. In some fields, the game ends in a draw, and on others the foxes are awarded a victory for surviving against long odds. In any game format, the team that eliminates all the players on the other team wins the game. In some Foxes and Hounds games, the Foxes are allowed semi-automatics while the Hounds can only use pump guns. This levels the playing field if the Foxes are outnumbered 3 to 1 or 5 to 1. Some semis that Foxes might use in games like this may include the Rate Impulse LTD from E-Paintball Outlet, the Quest from First Endeavor Paintball, and the O2 from Odyssey.
The two teams often use very different strategies to win in these games. If the Foxes only need to stay alive until the end of the game clock, then they may simply choose stealth rather than trying to engage the enemy at all. The Foxes may choose to hide and set up an ambush if they are given enough time to find a good hiding spot. Other fun game variations include Overnight Game, Hostage, and Golf.
