Alien Invasion - Paintball Games
Alien Invasion is another paintball game variation that is played between two teams. In this game, a group of Aliens must try to bring their flag into an area known as Area 51. Other games like hostage rescue include transporting an object successfully from one location to another in order to win the game. In Alien Invasion, you need 4 posts and a wire flag for each Alien that is participating in the game. In this game there are two teams of equal strength: the Marines and the Aliens. The setup of the game includes a large paintball field, and a square location in the middle of the field with 4 posts at the corners. The posts should make a 30' x 30' square. The area within the goal posts is known as Area 51. The game begins with the Aliens scattered throughout the field at various distances from Area 51. Each Alien carries a wire flag and is allowed a maximum of 10 paintballs that he can carry in his hopper. The Marines can carry as many paintballs as they want.
The objective of the game is for the Aliens to plant all of their flags inside Area 51. Each flag must be carried into Area 51 and physically planted into the ground. The flag may not be thrown into Area 51 or dropped into it. The objective of the game for the Marines is to keep the Aliens from planting all of their flags in Area 51 before time expires on the game clock. Usually these games last between 15 and 20 minutes. Aliens have multiple lives in this game. If an Alien is shot in transit towards Area 51, he must go back to his starting position in the fallback zone. If an Alien is tagged 3 times, he is out of the game. Marines also have multiple lives in this game. If a Marine is tagged twice, then he is out of the game. Marines do not have to go back to any starting point once tagged, they can continue to play until they are tagged twice. If an Alien is tagged on the way to Area 51, he must take the flag back with him to his starting position in the fallback zone. Paintball games like this one are popular on paintball fields like Apple Blossom Village in Mount Bethel Pennsylvania, and Black Rain Paintball in Racine Wisconsin.

If an Alien is tagged for a third time, he is eliminated and must stick his flag in the ground where he was tagged. The flag can be picked up by another Alien still in the game. Marines cannot touch a flag planted in the ground. For the Aliens to win the game, all flags must be placed in Area 51 before time expires on the game clock. If they don't accomplish this objective, then the Marines win the game. In this game, each Alien can leave his starting position with no more than 10 paintballs. If he is tagged and sent back to his starting position, he can refill the hopper back to its original 10 paintball limit.
As part of team strategy, Marine players set a defensive perimeter around the Area 51, and typically will send snipers or scouts further out.
