Reincarnation - Paintball Games
Reincarnation is another paintball game where tagged players have a way of getting back into the game and competing again. Reincarnation is sometimes called Tag Up. Another variation of this game is called Penalty Box. Reincarnation can be a variation of capture the flag or any other game that doesn't already have rules where tagged players can come back into the game. In this game, a tagged player can go back to his flag station or designated holding area and tag up to get back into the game. Players can immediately tag up once they get back to the tag location, or they can go to the closest fill station or area where they can refill their hopper. Players should clean off their splatter mark before re-entering the game so that the referee will not view this mark as a second hit. In the version of the game Penalty Box, players may not immediately tag up to go back into the game, but they must wait some period of time to back into the game. Usually, the players must wait 5 minutes or 10 minutes from the time they first set foot in the penalty box.
Big Game is another variation where players wait some set period of time to re-enter a game once tagged. These games draw between 50 to 2500 players, and the games can last as long as days. So it would not make sense to have a game format where players would have to wait hours to get back into games once tagged. Big Game matches are broken into several squads, and each squad has individual objectives that they must complete over the course of the entire event. The playing field of the big game is often quite large, to accommodate the number of players involved, and to have enough of a battlefield to host mini battles within the squads. Some Big Game events in 2006-2007 included Cousins Big Game at Cousins Paintball, Army Big Game 2007, and Warped Paintball Big Game. Big Game is defined as a large paintball game with 50-1000 people on each team. Each team is like its own military army, with several small divisions, known as squads, units, and divisions. And like real armies, there is a chain of command, with a general who oversees the whole operation, followed by executive officers, platoon leaders, and squad leaders.

There are several additional paintball game variations that are smaller but just as interesting. One game is Protect the VIP. In the game Protect the VIP, one player is assigned to the position of VIP. The VIP is protected by the rest of the players on that team, who must either keep the player alive for the entire game or escort him to some kind of safe zone within a given time period. The other team must either eliminate the VIP, or keep the other team from getting him to the safe zone. Regardless of the objective, the game is over once the VIP has been tagged. The other players on the team can't tag up like in the game Reincarnation.
