Utah Paintball Fields
Utah, like Massachusetts, is a state that was originally settled by large groups of people fleeing religious persecution. In Massachusetts, the lands were first settled by the Puritans, and in Utah, the lands were first settled by the Mormons. Utah today is still a state with a large Mormon population, but there are also significant numbers of Catholics, Baptists, Episcopalians, and other Christians. Utah is also a land with unique and diverse geographies. In some regions of the state, the lands have sparse water supplies, and the lands are covered with red earth, rock formations, and deep canyons. In other parts of the state, there are lush green mountains, lakes, and waterfalls. One breathtaking site is Bridal Veil Falls in Provo canyon between Orem and Heber City. The capital and largest city in Utah is Salt Lake City.
Salt Lake City is such an interesting location and such an interesting place, because it was actually settled because it is in a Spartan, rugged area. Most major cities in America were first settled because they were located in strategic areas of trade between states and cities, or because they had a wealth for natural resources that would enable residents use them to live comfortably or make products to sell. Boston in New York are located along the Atlantic Ocean and make great trade ports for national or international commerce. Pittsburgh had natural resources such as steel that its residents could mine, refine, and sell. But Brigham Young of the Church of Latter Day Saints chose the region around Salt Lake City because it was so barren and so isolated. He chose a region that was empty and rugged so that he could build a religion away from other cultures and peacefully build a church the way Joseph Smith envisions. Joseph Smith was a profit in the eyes of the Latter Day Saints and the founder of Mormon Church.

Salt Lake City is a growing, dynamic metropolis, in a high-tech hub of the Rocky Mountains. The Salt Lake area evolved into a world class destination for winter sports, which made it the perfect host of the 2002 Olympic Winter Games. The city's roots date to July 24th, 1847, when Mormon leader Brigham Young looked out over the Salt Lake Valley and announced to the ragged party behind him "This is the right place." So began the religious settlement that nurtured the church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, as the Mormon Church is officially known. City attractions fan out from Temple Square, and its amazing Salt Lake Temple.
