"I said Georgia
Ooh Georgia, no peace I find
Just an old sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind
Other arms reach out to me
Other eyes smile tenderly
Still in peaceful dreams I see
The road leads back to you
Georgia,
Georgia
No peace, no peace I find
Just this old, sweet song
Keeps Georgia on my mind."
-  Ray Charles, writer/singer musician who grew up in Georgia, United States.
Ray Charles is just one of several musicians, entertainers, athletes, and other great people to influence the history of the great state of Georgia as well as the culture of America. Other notable people from Georgia include the Indigo Girls (musicians), REM (musicians), Newt Gingrich (politician), and Jasper Johns (painter/sculptor). Georgia is also one of the original 13 states and thus a land with a long and eventful history. Georgia is known for its red soil, famous mountains, and Atlanta, the host of the 1996 Olympics. Georgia was also a hotbed of action during the American Civil War, where several bloody battles were fought and many cities were burned. Some Georgian battles during the Civil War included the Battle of Chickamauga, the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain, and the Battle of Columbus. Some moderate sites that commemorate the bravery of southern fighters during this war include Confederate Memorial Park, Fort Pulaski, and Stone Mountain. Stone Mountain is located in Stone Mountain Georgia. Stone Mountain is one massive piece of stone with little or no foliage or trees on it, towering and contrasting with the green lands below it. Stone Mountain is an active tourist destination, with trails people can take to the top and witness some spectacular sights. Other highlights of the Stone Mountain site include a huge bas-relief of three famous confederate players: Jefferson Davis, Robert E. Lee, and Stonewall Jackson. Civil War sites throughout the south are sources of southern pride.
Other famous places in Georgia include the Blue Ridge Mountains, the Chattahoochee River, Turner Field, and Emory University. Emory University is often to as the Harvard of the South, though Duke University in North Carolina would be quick to challenge this statement. Macon, Savannah, Athens, and Augusta, are some of the most historic cities in the state of Georgia.

Georgia paintball fields add to the culture of the state and provide players of all ages with licensed sites to play safe, spirited games.
